Matt Hancock affair

AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

@Ostara212

"we couldn't hug family members but he can hug/fuck some woman he's having an affair with."

I am flummoxed by people who didn't hug or thought no hugging was the law.

Eh? The photos were taken May 6. Indoor mixing bans weren't relaxed until May 17 and we were banned from hugging people outside our household at the time.

Johnson "considers the matter closed". The arrogance is breathtaking.
Yep. Nothing to see here plebs!
Myothercarisalsoshit · 25/06/2021 14:05

He's a faithless, lying scumbag but his boss can't sack him because he's another faithless, lying scumbag.
More Tory sleaze.
He did it because he could. Just like he diverted public funds to his sister and his mates becuase he could.

ButteringMyArse · 25/06/2021 14:06

There was no ban.

I think it's a realistic possibility that Hancock hasn't broken the covid laws, but then Neil Ferguson never did either. It was just his partner, as the rules at the time only criminalised leaving the house rather than having someone at yours. And his position was clearly untenable despite not having acted illegally. People are understandably going to get upset if someone who was advising them to follow particular guidance doesn't follow it themselves.

Wheretobuy · 25/06/2021 14:08

@ancientgran

Apparently Liz Truss is supporting him and says he didn't break any rules. I think we've all misunderstood the rules.
That means both Liz Truss and Hancock should go. One doesn’t understand the rules her own team has set and the other broke them and actually told off others while breaking them himself! Grin

I can't believe two women fancied him

Two woman fancied John Prescott and Robin Cook. It takes all sorts.

Johnson "considers the matter closed"

Yep. I remember him defending Cummings up to the hilt just over a year ago. So how long before Hancock gets thrown under the bus? Or does that depend on Carrie's opinion?

There’s a lid for every pot.

@Blinkingbatshit

If you’re going to fire Matt Hancock for adultery then you’re going to have to fire Boris too, the man has (approximately!) SEVEN children, over half of whom were born as the result of an affair….. why on Earth do the British public have such double standards?
I’d get rid of both for their abuse of taxpayers money and siphoning off as much as they can to their mates. Their lack of sexual morality is something for their private lives but it would be nice if they could show that when they make a vow they are attempting to stick to it.
newnortherner111 · 25/06/2021 14:11

Some women have low self esteem. You only have to read some of the threads on MN to see examples. We should be criticising the ministers who are unfaithful not those who are not in public office.

MargaritasForever · 25/06/2021 14:13

Feel so sorry for his wife and am really cross with the press who completely evaded her privacy by getting all those obligatory 'humiliated wife outside marital home' snaps, although I am not surprised in the slightest that they did.

I

She was appointed as a non executive director of the department of health last year - according to the BBC she has a £15000 salary for 15-20 days of work a year.

That should be the point to tip the public over the edge, surely?

gillysSong · 25/06/2021 14:14

His poor wife and family.

PatriarchyChickenOlympicWinner · 25/06/2021 14:15

I am very disappointed in myself to realise I would probably shag Matt Hancock for £1000 a day.

TheoMeo · 25/06/2021 14:15

I wonder if Times radio or GBNews will come to the fore about holding Hancock to account. Here's their chance .

Nope. People do not care about these things :( They will still maintain they are all doing a good job.

She was employed as a civil servant. She was/is in public office

The barrel scraping from posters trying to minimise this is nearly as pathetic as the conduct of MH

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 14:16

But would you be happy being caught on CCTV in a 'steamy clinch'* with him?

*awkward teenage grope.

vinicunca · 25/06/2021 14:18

So BJ “considers the matter closed” does he?

I mean, we all know why he would want to move in swiftly in this type of scenario.

But still ... the arrogance!

Surely he can’t be allowed to get away with this???

TheMarzipanDildo · 25/06/2021 14:19

How the fuck can anyone defend him? Yes, he’s the fall guy, but it was his decision to stick his penis in his aide DURING A PANDEMIC. While at work in a difficult job that he really ought to have been concentrating on. While telling everyone else that they have to socially distance from their own family. While being in the pay of the taxpayer.

Well he would say that wouldn’t he! He’d be a hypocrite if he didn’t!

I suspect Cunning has some more gloss in his back pocket to spill! This is just an appetiser with a few beans as the main course may be oven ready to go when required. Looking more like the House of Cards versus the Teflon party. What’s for pudding? There must be some real tasty treats in store as this is sub Bojo level of impropriety!
cancancan · 25/06/2021 14:22

The pictures are soooo cringe!

I'm not sure there is another person in the world to have so many memes with their face on.

I feel for wife and husband victims in this situation. Bad enough finding out your spouse has had an affair without it playing out in the press!!

Yes! this with knobs on (unfortunate turn of phrase Envy ) It is the sex that makes the headlines and grabs public attention, but it's the cronyism, the helping your mates, the shovelling public money into the pockets of your chums - it's like the Arcuri situation. I don't care who these slimy selfish creeps want to sleep with, I do care that they systematically think rules don't apply to them and have no respect for the electorate or the money we pay in taxes.
TheMarzipanDildo · 25/06/2021 14:23

“I wonder just how many of the people screaming from the roof tops for his head have followed the rules as scrupulously as they're expecting him to?”

I suppose the difference is that he couldn’t follow his own rules.
