AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

@ancientgran

Apparently Liz Truss is supporting him and says he didn't break any rules. I think we've all misunderstood the rules.
That's a shame for her because he's just admitted to and apologised for breaking the rules.
StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2021 12:34

Oh he admits that maybe he did. Might have got closer than 2m..

Regulus · 25/06/2021 12:34

@Gh0stontoast

Hancock looks like his “animagus” would be a hamster.

Sleazebags the lot of them, helping their pals get wealthy from iffy contracts.

This is one of the funniest/most horrifying things I have read on here for ages Grin Envy not envy
ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 12:35

The only Tory politician who seems competent to me is Julian Smith. He made a very good SoS for Northern Ireland. Which is a rare thing! So of course he lost his job...

Hmm
newnortherner111 · 25/06/2021 12:36

Please stop comparing Mr Hancock to weasels and hamsters. No weasel or hamster has contributed to thousands of deaths (human or animal) nor been unfaithful and lied on any scale.

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 12:37

He’s now apologised for breaking social distancing guidelines .. 😂

worktrip · 25/06/2021 12:37

Scumbag.

BlowDryRat · 25/06/2021 12:37

The 'Hands, Face, Embrace' is excellent.

He needs to go.

Blossomtoes · 25/06/2021 12:38

According to Twitter civil servants in the know referred to it as Hancock’s Half Hour - you probably have to be old for this one. 🤣

Clavinova · 25/06/2021 12:39

chocorabbit

Your link is scraping the barrel somewhat;

She remains a shareholder in Luther Pendragon. Some of the agency's clients have won major government contracts in recent months. One client, British Airways, was paid £46m to fly PPE to the UK from China, while another, Accenture, was awarded £2.5m to help build the NHS COVID-19 app.

This is the latest in a series of damaging scandals involving friends and former colleagues of cabinet ministers being handed lucrative contracts or positions...

A spokesperson for Luther Pendragon stressed that Coladangelo had not been employed by the firm since 2014. “She has no involvement in the day-to-day running of Luther Pendragon, nor does she carry out any client work on behalf of Luther Pendragon,” they said.

The spokesperson added: "She receives no remuneration from Luther Pendragon, and has not done so since she ceased being an employee.”

However, they confirmed that she remains a shareholder in the business...

How can her tenuous link to British Airways and Accenture be a 'scandal'? What nonsense.

That (and breaking ministerial code of conduct) is why he has to go. The 'apology' itself is just as absurd as everything else covid-related these days.
Douchebaggette · 25/06/2021 12:40

Whilst I can see it's problematic to feel sorry for Gina I can't help feel some empathy. Afterall, over the last year, haven't we all been totally and utterly fucked by Matt Hancock...

FlatteredFool · 25/06/2021 12:41

He'll probably blame stress for his lack of morals and judgement. Some people can be so disappointing. Not that I ever have high hopes of anyone in government.

ExtraOnions · 25/06/2021 12:42

I am a Civil Servant, and sometimes work out of Whitehall. If I got caught snogging in the corridors, whilst as work (whether it was my husband, lover, or the man who waters the plants), I would be on a disciplinary charge. She is appointed via the Civil Service, and signed up to the code of conduct, and should go through the correct disciplinary process

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 12:43

His statement is a firm 'Sorry, Boris, but I ain't leaving'

I have let people down and am very sorry. I remain focussed on working to get the country out of this pandemic and would be grateful for privacy for my family on this personal matter

Guavafish · 25/06/2021 12:44

Typical Tory ministers behaviour… I’m not surprised

@Douchebaggette

The OW has been close friends with him since uni - and was on the government payroll, having been appointed by him.

This isn't a private affair. This is a long running relationship (of some sort) culminating in her being appointed to a government posoiion she should never have been allowed anywhere near - because she is also a professional lobbyist. The public interest isn't that he has (presumably) been shagging her - it's that shagging her would appear to be one of the reasons she got such close government acess and money. Access/knowledge she then (presumably) sold onto her clients - directly or indirectly.

This government is shameful. Truly shameful. When you add up the lies and the money they've given to their mates, and the misconduct and the crime, it makes me popping mad.

This with bells on…

Well I didn't lie back and guide him in that's for sure!
SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/06/2021 12:49

@Anycrispsleft

To say I'm no fan of the current tories would be quite the understatement. But I felt sorry for Hancock, a man who had obviously been promoted not on the basis of any talent or experience but on the basis of his willingness to pretend that he thought Brexit was a good idea, and could never have predicted that he was going to end up handling a crisis that would have tested even the abilities of a health secretary who knew what they were doing. I always thought he looked quite haunted in his interviews. I thought he probably sometimes zones out and remembers that tens of thousands of people have died, alone and before their time, on his watch. Turns out that when his eyes glazed over he was probably thinking back to his last resignation with his bit on the side?
I don't feel sorry for him. He is a hypocritical* incompetent bumhole and he deserves all the opprobrium the world can heap on him.

I pity his wife.

I pity his children.

But he shouldn't ever have been in office and his arrogance, thinking he's untouchable, makes me sick to my stomach.

The thing that concerns me most is that this is very probably another dead cat being slammed onto the table to cover up something much worse ad more underhand that Johnson's foul cabal is getting up to.

*Only a year ago when a member of SAGE was caught visiting his lover during lockdown, Hancock said it was a job for the police. I believe the man resigned.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2021 12:49

How the fuck can he expect to stay on when Ferguson had to resign?

covidandborisandworld · 25/06/2021 12:50

Well I'm not acting as covid pice at work anymore. My management dont back us up and nor do the govt it seems.

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 12:51

He's thinking, if Cummings could brazen out the Barnard Castle debacle...

JustDanceAddict · 25/06/2021 12:53

He’s got to go.
