AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

@Handsoffstrikesagain

Years ago this sort of shit brought down governments.
Example please
snowballer · 25/06/2021 11:22

@Sparklingbrook

It feels very sinister, a distraction perhaps?

Really? Confused Or is it just MH was having an affair and it's now been exposed, same as happens to lots of people every day.

No - this isn't a coincidence. The timing is everything. Could be an internal leak to give a reason to boot him without appearing to be directly related to Cummings' evidence. So gives Johnson a reason to get rid of him without looking like he's still being driven by DC.
Notonthestairs · 25/06/2021 11:22

@Ostara212

Apparently he couldn't hug his mother - don't blame some of the public for trying to follow advice.

@supermoonrising

Rory Stewart wouldnt have conducted himself in this manner and neither would have Corbyn. Neither would have Ed Miliband, Thatcher, Gordon Brown etc. They're not all shits, in it just to get as rich as possible and on power trips. But with the recent "populism" shitshow, the in-it-for themselves lot with no moral compass let alone ambition to improve things for the masses - the likes of Johnson and Trump - is the lot we always get into power.
Grow up. Rory Stewart's wife was married to someone else when they met - he was the OM.

Corbyn? Perfect example of correlation between fidelity in marriage and competence as a politician. Not.

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 11:23

you just know the execrable dolt that is Gavin Williamson is updating his CV this morning in the hope he'll be appointed the next health minister.

Sparklingbrook · 25/06/2021 11:23

Oh ok @Snowballer, if that's what you believe.

Blossomtoes · 25/06/2021 11:23

The Profumo affair brought down Macmillan’s government @Scaredycatmoo.

Douchebaggette · 25/06/2021 11:24

Bloody hell, we really are brainwashed if anyone thinks a highly intelligent, decent guy with a moral compass is “terrifying”.

Sadly, I think this is he case now. Anytime anyone steps up who is not a greasy fingered thief and liar they are portrayed as state-enemey number 1.

I am starting to wonder if how this government conducts itself is the same as many voters (want to) conduct themsleves and that's why they are so accepting of them. Maybe that's why so many now shy away from a politician with moral convictions and gravitate towards those that should have criminal convictions.

I didn't agree with many of the ways Rory Stewart voted but he was better than this bunch of crooks who have spent all their time lining their own pockets.

Scaredycatmoo · 25/06/2021 11:24

@paddingtonbearmeetsdeadpool

People need to start caring it's a shame that posters are saying they don't care. That means they can do whatever they want because you like him.
I don’t like or Dislike

I simply care about how he does his job

Simple as that

Private life unless breaks law is irrelevant to me

Marchitectmummy · 25/06/2021 11:24

I don't feel anything for Matt Hancock but it's private business.

Peregrina · 25/06/2021 11:24

They might as well pick politicians by lottery.

They wouldn't do any worse!

Bluethrough · 25/06/2021 11:25

Honestly I couldn't care less as long as he gets us out of covid restrictions

Hancock helped increase them by not getting India on the red list sooner.

So him being distracted by shagging her is in direct opposition to what you/we all demand.

Or as they in Devon "Fanny will draw he, further than dynamite will blow he"

Notonthestairs · 25/06/2021 11:26

It's not private when taxpayers are facilitating their affair by paying her salary and bunging her family contracts.

Scaredycatmoo · 25/06/2021 11:27

@newnortherner111

Worst UK government probably ever, definitely worst Prime Minister ever. Only the Hungarian PM is worse amongst countries that vote in their governments.
Grin

Do you read international news?!

South Africa just for starters…

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 25/06/2021 11:28

@Blossomtoes

The Profumo affair brought down Macmillan’s government *@Scaredycatmoo*.
It wasn't the sexual affair that was the issue, it was the fact the Profumo was shagging a woman who was also shagging a Russian diplomat at the height of the Cold War.

Also, it didn't bring down the government, although it did contribute to them losing the 1964 GE.

PicsInRed · 25/06/2021 11:29

Rory also admitted to doing opium which...it's not great is it.

Marchitectmummy · 25/06/2021 11:29

If that is true haven't seen anything to make me believe that is the case.

PicsInRed · 25/06/2021 11:30

@PicsInRed

Rory also admitted to doing opium which...it's not great is it.
Let me just back that up...

@Blossomtoes

The Profumo affair brought down Macmillan’s government *@Scaredycatmoo*.
It was the fact he lied to the House of Commons The police were involved Exposed he’d lied

It wasn’t the affair
It was fact he had lied to House of Commons and police investigation

Blossomtoes · 25/06/2021 11:31
None of that convinces me he’s terrifying. Lots of people don’t believe in abortion on demand, citizens’ panels are widely used in other countries and everyone seems to get accused of racism on pretty spurious grounds now. Must try harder Pics.
Blossomtoes · 25/06/2021 11:33

It wasn’t the affair. It was fact he had lied to House of Commons and police investigation

Just like Hancock then, barring the police investigation. There’d have been nothing to lie about if he hadn’t had an affair.

Tanith · 25/06/2021 11:33

Of course, all this is just a distraction.
I wonder what they want to slip by while we’re looking the other way…?

drainrat · 25/06/2021 11:35

They’re stealing from us.

Their incompetence and corruption killed doctors and nurses in the first wave who had inadequate or no PPE because it was being provided by amateurs related through blood or semen, who were able to use the pandemic as cover to avoid the usual legalities of tendering contracts.

I don’t give a shit who shags what, but I definitely care that criminality is so acceptable in this government.

Moonwhite · 25/06/2021 11:38

So were we paying for him to employ his mistress so he'd have her on hand, or did this love story unfold during the time that his incompetence was leading to thousands of unnecessary deaths?

He's such a weasel I fully expect him to blame the stress of the pandemic for all of this.
