AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

I still can't believe Johnson got away with the Jennifer Arcuri affair. He's got a wife at home fighting cancer and he's shagging this woman and inviting her on all sorts of official trips that she shouldn't have been near...and on top of that he gave her £126,000 of taxpayers money!

And yet...tumbleweed.

the80sweregreat · 25/06/2021 10:30

They are a disgrace, but others have pointed out that they all are. That's the trouble, they all have things to hide.
The next scandal about contracts etc is waiting in the wings. Still, people will shrug it off.
Because so many of them are corrupt :(

Pinchmybun · 25/06/2021 10:30

To all those posters who cite that it’s a non story/ private affair or they couldn’t care less really should be disgusted with themselves.

Try telling that to the face of someone who has lost a relative, lover or friend in this Covid disaster. Look them in their grieving eye and tell them you don’t care. You don’t care about their tragedy, their loss, their now orphaned children etc. Cause that’s what you mean when you say these things.

At the very least as a country we expected that the person put in charge of fighting this horrific pandemic had full focus and was giving it his all. Instead in the very offices used to discuss beating Covid he’s acting like a teenager snogging and groping his bit on the side. It’s disgraceful, it’s disrespectful to those who shouldn’t have died in this pandemic due to his failures and their relative and I am for one really appalled at anyone who would think otherwise.

For anyone who has lost a relative due to Covid and is really angry and hurt by this revelation today: I’m so sorry for you’re loss and I feel your pain. I hope the British public do the right thing and pile pressure on Hancock to resign.

Howshouldibehave · 25/06/2021 10:31

And yet no one will care, we have no effective opposition. No wonder those in power feel they can do as they please

Yep. If you can lie, cheat, take bribes and break the law and keep your job. What’s next?!

TatoAndBeans · 25/06/2021 10:31

If he resigns, nothing new will emerge.

If he doesn’t resign (he’s likely been refusing to and “reminding” BoJo of his own affairs and dodgy dealings, to keep his job), then more will be released.
@ScribblyBaller

Colandangelo is not a very common surname which makes a quick google very interesting...

Someone called Roberto holds several directorships in health-related companies:
find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/ainJwd2ay1TQpytS1-6DvtjBBk8/appointments

Including a directorship at this company:
www.phlgroup.co.uk

Which seems to have been awarded contracts for Out of Hours doctors services, Covid testing, and custody health services for the police

According to this electoral roll record, Gina and Roberto are linked to the same residential address as two others with the same surname
www.192.com/atoz/people/coladangelo/heather/sg8/304041788/

So that looks pretty fucking murky to me...
Hahaha- was just coming on with that gem. I followed the same trail, but much slower. top sleuthing SW1amp!

Tal45 · 25/06/2021 10:32

I used to feel a bit sorry for him as he just always appeared to be way, way out of his depth. Not any more, it really is a race to the bottom with the Tories isn't it. They don't have a single moral between them.

heidipi · 25/06/2021 10:33

Ugh that picture. I can just imagine him being horrified by his bald patch at the back though - bet he thought he looked less shit than that Grin

Petalplucker · 25/06/2021 10:34

"When I casually suggested I mention it to HR he laughed because the Head of HR was having an affair with the European Head of something or other, and the business didn't care. It was normal. No one lost their job. No one ended up on the front page of anything. I actually think there was a bit of a culture that expected it to happen. So yeah, whatever."

The trouble comes though when the European Head of Something or Other gains preferential promotion or treatment via their relationship with the Head of HR, or makes a serious work error and isnt sacked because of their close relationship. Then it is not just "whatever" it is favouritism and if other employees feel that individuals are getting preferential treatment because of a relationship, especially with someone more senior, resentment can build. If the perceived unfairness results in someone leaving the firm, that can result in a case of constructive dismissal. And that is aside from the privileged access and influence that an advisor may have over a secretary of state and the privileges that flow in the opposite direction.

MrsBunHat · 25/06/2021 10:34

I agree we've reached a point where people just expect Johnson and the rest of the cabinet to be corrupt, money-grubbing shaggers and don't really care. As long as he's charismatic and entertaining. Starmer can't mount an opposition to this because he won't stand up and drive home how the Tories are shafting the country with passion and oratory - why not, I have no idea.

Pottedpalm · 25/06/2021 10:35

@the80sweregreat

What I meant was he should have been at work working , not conducting affairs in the corridors.
There have been many threads recently where posters have defended their right to walk the dog, do the washing and collect children from school during the working day, because they have got their work done and it’s no different to taking a tea break. I doubt a quick snog would render him incapable of using the rest of the day in the normal manner.
TheoMeo · 25/06/2021 10:35

It's ridiculous - suspicions of corruption and shady deals - someone appointed by them investigates and quel surprise it is judged justified and legal.
Honestly, where are the opposition, the police, anyone ????

and I am was a Tory voter.
Amersham and Chesham result due to Planning issues - I don't think it's just that ........

And according to his LinkedIn page, before moving into his career of outsourced NHS contracts, he had a long career as a lobbyist for Paddy Power and other gambling companies

So a) high morals in that family
and b) what did qualify a move into running companies that relied on winning NHS contracts at about the exact same time a close personal friend of his sister was appointed Health Secretary? Interesting timing, non? Hmm

colouringindoors · 25/06/2021 10:36

Utterly revolting.

What a pair of total idiotic, selfish scumbags. Their poor OHs and kids

Gh0stontoast · 25/06/2021 10:36

Hancock looks like his “animagus” would be a hamster.

Sleazebags the lot of them, helping their pals get wealthy from iffy contracts.

Blossomtoes · 25/06/2021 10:37

I honestly don’t know why anyone’s surprised. Nothing this bunch of amoral, self serving weasels does shocks me. There isn’t an atom of integrity between the lot of them.

MrsBunHat · 25/06/2021 10:37

Yes I'm baffled that MH wants to stay in a job that is so beyond him where he looks like a rabbit in the headlights all the time AND has been described by his own boss as hopeless - but maybe he really just has no self-awareness or sense of responsibility at all, and it's just about wanting to cling to power and influence.

I hope the British public do the right thing and pile pressure on Hancock to resign.

And this will do precisely what? Get us another Rose Garden speech?

At least Hancock is an elected official and can be rejected by his constituency.

Cummings has never been elected. He comes back like an unflushable turd, promising his slimy services to a series of frontmen whom he first makes then breaks when they stop obeying him.

I have no liking for Hancock, no sympathy for him over the affair or over precious government funds handed out to (fuck) buddies, and also no desire to forward Cummings' latest slippery scheme.

It's a dilemma.

OhGiveUp · 25/06/2021 10:41

You sound surprised op
They're all at it!
Some are better at not getting caught than others, that's the only difference.

Haha are you hinting there’s something on the karmacharma? Told to keep his head down? Who knows in this crazy world we live in.
