AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

I don't really care whether he has an affair or not.

what I do care about is her lack of independence, however would be grossly unfair for her to resign if Hancock doesn't.

ChicChaos · 25/06/2021 10:03

@Douchebaggette

The OW has been close friends with him since uni - and was on the government payroll, having been appointed by him.

This isn't a private affair. This is a long running relationship (of some sort) culminating in her being appointed to a government posoiion she should never have been allowed anywhere near - because she is also a professional lobbyist. The public interest isn't that he has (presumably) been shagging her - it's that shagging her would appear to be one of the reasons she got such close government acess and money. Access/knowledge she then (presumably) sold onto her clients - directly or indirectly.

This government is shameful. Truly shameful. When you add up the lies and the money they've given to their mates, and the misconduct and the crime, it makes me popping mad.

This - yes, I feel for the other spouses involved and particularly for the children. But it's another example of the Tories using public money for their own gain.

I also think Gove and Cummings might be behind the leak of the story, although I think Gove would be insane to take Cummings back on again. Boris must be watching closely for the knives heading towards his back now!

MareofBeasttown · 25/06/2021 10:04

Honestly how on earth do these men find the time or energy in a pandemic? I don't have a big job and my kids are grown, and I can still barely find the time or motivation to empty the dishwasher ( wanders off muttering).

PinusSylvestris · 25/06/2021 10:05

The big jobs are strategic. I think that's the excuse.

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 10:05

Apparently her husband is the founder of Oliver Bonas.

TatoAndBeans · 25/06/2021 10:05

This isn’t news. It’s a dead cat for us and a warning shot to Hancock.

Boris is now known to have called Hancock “fucking useless” a year ago, but never sacked him, never shuffled him off to DOSAC? Hancock no doubt knows where Boris has hidden the bodies and that made Boris scared to sack him.

How did someone acquire it from thousands of hours of secure cctv? Why go looking for it now? If it was screenshotted by a disgruntled security guard, why only release it now? Why to The Sun?

This is a warning (from Boris/Gove) to get back in his box and do as he’s told.

Utterly shit for their respective partners and kids. But this is undoubtedly the tip of the iceberg and a threat to release more.

Sparechange · 25/06/2021 10:07

If, hypothetically speaking, the brother of the OW owned and ran several companies which were recently awarded contracts outsourced from the NHS, would that be even more fucking outrageous?

Hypothetically speaking of course…

Because that may or may not be what the sun will be reporting later on today…

PinusSylvestris · 25/06/2021 10:07

They don't empty the dishwasher either.
Plus they hire the right advisers to take the pressure off 😂

the80sweregreat · 25/06/2021 10:07

It's just the fact it's someone we know that's made it doubly bad. There can't be a person in the land who hasn't heard of him and his various slogans not to mention the briefings and the awkward questions about the pandemic and his part in it all and how bad it was at first.
Normally it's a minister or MP nobody has heard much about , but with him it feels a bit different I think ( plus he has mentioned his wife and children and family during the briefings too and did like to pro tray the whole family man persona)

It makes it all a bit more personal somehow to know that it was all false and more lies.

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 10:07

The sun are nausea inducing though. There was no big front page splash when Johnson was discovered to have been funneling money and contacts to Arcuri. Harry Cole is a man without dignity. Dumped by Carrie Symonds for Johnson and still continues to do their bidding like a kicked dog desperate to be patted.

Xenia · 25/06/2021 10:07

Difficult for BJ to fire someone for his favourite activity - committing adultery though..... Very appropriate names this lot - "BJ" and "han[d] COCK"....

Of course in our current covid police state it is more important that the rules on cuddling were relaxed before the CCTV was taken (unlike when Nial Ferguson had his married over pay a home visit). So break a 10 commandment and marital vow about adultery and no problem at all but dare break a covid 19 law and it is big trouble.....

There are six children in this - 3 on each side. They should have been the priority of the 2 parents involved before playing away.

quiteathome · 25/06/2021 10:08

This affair is really murky. A lot of the companies that were awarded money over the pandemic were associated with her firm.

I feel for the families.

(According to the Sun)

HarebrightCedarmoon · 25/06/2021 10:08

Honestly how on earth do these men find the time or energy in a pandemic?

That was my first thought. When? Who would have the energy? Though I suppose if they are working together long hours, they would find the time.

Youdoyoutoday · 25/06/2021 10:09

@musicalfrog

My god. There are TWO women willing to snog him and he found them both? What are the chances. Confused
but what the hell do women see in Bojo??? the mind literally boggles at that one!!

It's Mrs Hancock and his kids I feel sorry in this situation. Bad enough to find out your partner is having an affair but have it splashed through the media like this is awful.

Just when you thought the swamp couldn't get any swampier.
Roselilly36 · 25/06/2021 10:10

Usual politician behaviour, he won’t be sacked, I hope his wife tells him to do one! Just feel sorry for her & their kids, and the OW’s husband & kids, how humiliating.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/06/2021 10:11

I cannot believe how many people are defending the man. People in care homes cannot even hug relatives; including a husband and wife. Yet here he is, bold as brass, breaking his own rules (c’mon this affair started before 17th May), his marriage vows and debatably ministerial code.

This has nothing to do with party politics, Whitehall is rife with sex and always has been. It’s politics - show biz for ugly people. Everyone has always been at it, shagging colleagues, hiring their mates etc. Etc. Nothing new to see here. It’s just much harder to get away with it in the digital age.

HotWeather · 25/06/2021 10:12

Ni wonder Boris told The Queen he was full of beans!

Tories - nothing is wrong or immoral until you get caught and mostly not even then.

I just think most politicians, most people ‘in charge’ are liars cheats and/or thieves and nothing they do shocks me as I expect the absolute worst from them eventually.

Oblomov21 · 25/06/2021 10:14

Oh yuk.
His poor wife. Her poor husband.

menopause59 · 25/06/2021 10:14

The only person I feel sorry for is his poor wife and children

No excuse for infidelity absolutely disgusting behavior
