A+E EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!

notapizzaeater · 23/06/2021 00:07

Glad you've taken him, hope you get sorted quickly.

ineedaholidaynow · 23/06/2021 00:08

How was your DH when you left to go to hospital? Does he now accept he was in the wrong?

Houseofvelour · 23/06/2021 00:08

I'm glad you took him in. I hope he's ok.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 23/06/2021 00:11

good for you, OP. Your DH needs to get some first aid lessons so that he does not make stupid decisions based on nothing. Fingers crossed for a good outcome for your little one. And patience, for you.

My dd fell over at school last month, hit her head on the bottom of a door frame. Lump and bruise and cut. School phoned but said she was fine. Picked her up and she seemed a bit off. She said her head had been hurting all afternoon, she was tired etc. I took her to the minor injuries unit, she had concussion and was kept in for 4 hrs for observation. She was fine but the drs said that its much better to be checked after a head injury as some concussions don't show symptoms till hours afterwards. I'm glad you are in A and E now but be prepared to wait a long time.

Good stuff op

Pulledapart2015 · 23/06/2021 01:17

Glad you took the initiative to go. It's better to get it checked than worry all night. Hope you get home quickly after being reassured all is well.

PixieLaLa · 23/06/2021 01:48

Glad you took the initiative to go

Eh? They didn’t use their initiative but jumped on MN to ask a bunch of strangers whether she should take her child to A&E after a head injury and concussion! Pretty worrying TBH Confused

I didn't realise I wrote initiative instead of decision 🙄 Although now I realise the OP didn't really make the decision MN did Lol

Let's give her a break she took the child in the end. Her OH on the other hand sounds completely careless.

unstabletoddler · 23/06/2021 04:49

Are you scared of your husband op?

youvegottenminuteslynn · 23/06/2021 05:55

It sounds like you're fearful of your husband? He sounds unsupportive and cold, as if he wouldn't seek medical attention for your child because the injury was through something he viewed as 'naughty'? Worrying.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 23/06/2021 05:57

Take them.

skodadoda · 23/06/2021 06:58

RTFT 🤦‍♂️
PurpleReigns · 23/06/2021 07:52

All fine. advised to take day off school and keep an eye.

re DH . DC did ask if he would still be awake when we got home which isn’t good as I could see they were worried about the fall out. especially as nothing ‘wrong’

OP posts:
Quartz2208 · 23/06/2021 07:58

PurpleReigns something IS wrong - he has concussion and is told to take a day off school. I wouldnt be surprised if he needed a couple more.

DD took 3 days for her head to stop hurting and feel able to concentrate, her friends brother the same.

He may only have a mild concussion but it will still be painful and will feel confused. He needs rest and not much screen time.

You went to confirm it was nothing more serious which was completely and totally correct

vivainsomnia · 23/06/2021 07:58

Of course he is fine. If the loss of consciousness is only a second or so, and there are no other symptoms, there really is no need for A&E.

The two thing to look for is vomiting and drowsiness. Poor responsiveness.

There really was no need to take to A&E as things were. However, if you don't feel confident, it's better to seek help. So really, neither you nor your OH is wrong.

LIZS · 23/06/2021 07:59

Are you often so beholden to your dh? No they probably should not have been messing about but you deal with the consequences first and debate later.

vivainsomnia · 23/06/2021 08:01

Got to live Dr assessment by strangers on the internet! Not sure why A&Es are struggling do bad when you can just be told by strangers on threads!

Northernlurker · 23/06/2021 08:02

@vivainsomnia that's wrong and dangerous 'advice'. The op didn't witness the LOC so had no way of assessing the length and any LOC should be checked by somebody qualified to assess the concussion.

PacifyLulu · 23/06/2021 08:03

It is concerning that your child is concerned about their father’s reaction to them accessing medical care. Perhaps you could start a thread in relationships on that. It might be something you’d like to discuss / explore.

Frownette · 23/06/2021 08:06

It doesn't always manifest itself immediately; like a pp it took a few days with me when I was having clear fluid come out of my nose and vomiting everywhere but crunch point was perhaps 3 days later when I couldn't hear my own voice so hightailed it to A&E.

It's worth getting it checked.

Quartz2208 · 23/06/2021 08:06

@vivainsomnia you have clearly never had or had someone suffer with a mild concussion because it isnt pleasant.

As it happens I wasnt giving medical advice I was telling the OP that she needs to remember that although the hospital has cleared her DC of anything sinister by telling him to have a day of school and keep an eye on him he has a medical diagnosis of mild concussion.

Which means there isnt something wrong and something that he needs to rest through. Look up screen time and concussion
