I probably only have 1-2 baths a month with DS (usually when I’ve made it deeper with lots of bubbles). He’s going to be 4 in a month and I feel like we’re coming to end of this chapter.

When did you stop?

Jent13c · 22/06/2021 22:26

Mine was 3, just had his little brother and he was very curious about my poor battered body Confused

I would still shower in the same room while the kids are in the bath but never get in with them. He's got his brother now to keep him company! Also mine is now 4.5 and going to school soon and such a massive jump in the last 6 months...gone from being my baby to my big boy. Feel like we have definitely moved on to the next stage from my cosleeping, breastfeeding, bath sharing boy!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 22/06/2021 22:27

I didn't even know this was a thing. So for me never, doesn't sound appealing at all. Sorry babies

Chicchicchicchiclana · 22/06/2021 22:28

Never once had a bath or shower with either of my children. Ever. I like the water hot and I like a bit of time to myself.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 22:28

@Imfromhere

DD is 8. We dont share a bath but we have a separate bath and shower. Sunday nights she jumps in the bath and me the shower. Music on, sign along and have a chat.

Tbh I could do without the critique on my flabby bits Grin but it's nice bonding time. Hope we have a few years left doing it.

@Imfromhere

haha, I get that too. and that I should shave my legs because they are prickly 🤣
@TheLovelinessOfDemons I actually was thinking of it the other way for me - when I no longer want to. I think today was the first day I just realised I didn’t want to anymore - being prodded on my flabby bits and squirted with the rubber duck is no longer no idea of fun.
Haha.

Yes for me it was wanting hot baths and my ds being able to keep himself occupied while I was in the bath. So 4 years old.

Same here.

NakedNugget · 22/06/2021 22:38

@Sunnyday321

I'm 65 and my triplets are 34 ! it's quite a squeeze GrinGrin
Haha thank god for this comment!
Butterflyfox · 22/06/2021 22:46

Mine (10 and 9) appear from nowhere like magic whenever I run a nice relaxing bubble Bath for me and slide in Sometimes it’s annoying but generally I love it as I know it won’t be forever. Presumably soon they will get body conscious and complicated But not yet thankfully

CatFaceCats · 22/06/2021 23:05

My son has stayed away from my bath from about age 4. My daughter is 10 and would still try and get in with me (and my nice bath bombs) but it’s generally too hot for her.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 22/06/2021 23:06

In theory, whenever they don’t want to anymore.

In reality, dd was 4 and it was by default because we moved house and the new bath is tiny. Have never shared with ds due to tiny bath!

When the new bathroom goes in later this year we’ll have a big bath and separate shower so I expect we’ll do some sharing again.

sourcreamnchives · 22/06/2021 23:07

I remember once some friends of ours told us the mother still bathed with her then 13 year old son 🤭🤢

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 22/06/2021 23:09

That beautiful moment when you’re sharing a lovely bubble bath, thinking what a special bonding moment it is and then dc says “I’ve just done a wee mummy” 🤣

reader12 · 22/06/2021 23:11

About age 9 I think. We didn’t do it loads before then but it was nice sometimes - nice deep bath with loads of bubbles. A nice place to chat.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 23:24

this thread made me remember that we had extension work done in our old house and moved back just 2 days before DS4's ELSC.
so the night before he was born the 3 boys & I had our first bath and I let them eat ice cream in the bath because it was a special occasion.
DS1 still remembers it!

merryhouse · 22/06/2021 23:27

Never did.

I'm not keen on baths myself: I find them irritating and tedious, and I can curl up on the settee if I want a glass of wine and a good book. Sitting in water at a good depth for a toddler would make it even worse.

I breast-fed on demand and co-slept till 30 months for both; and I would take the smaller one in the shower cubicle with me at the gym so it's not about being naked (always remember small S1 musing to himself "mummy's penis is bwoten" Grin).

PutBabyInTheCorner · 22/06/2021 23:31

My husband thinks I'm weird but I've never wanted to bath or shower with any of my 3 kids and never have. Too much effort and not at all relaxing. I'm not keen on them seeing me naked either.

Tuberoses · 22/06/2021 23:33

Never. You know kids wee in the bath right? Anyway I prefer to relax, not be repeatedly twatted with a rubber giraffe. I do shower with DC because it’s impossible to wash a child while standing outside the shower, you just end up getting wet and so does the floor. That will end when my assistance is no longer required for washing.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 22/06/2021 23:44

Around 5 yrs

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 23/06/2021 00:43

Haven't bathed with DD (3) in a while but she was insistent on me getting in with her this evening.

I will sometimes have a nice scalding bath with wine and candles, then once it starts to get colder blow out the candles and DD will come up and get in.

motherrunner · 23/06/2021 06:33

I guess when they feel they don’t want to. DD is nearly 10 and DS 7. Both will climb in the bath with me if I’m having one. We’re all quite comfortable being naked though. We only have one bathroom with no lock so just walk in and out whenever and we all sleep in just shorts so there are always a lot of topless hugs.

justanotherneighinparadise · 23/06/2021 06:36

My rule is if they start to get hair in places an adult has hair, then it’s no longer appropriate. Obviously ‘when they no longer want to’ is another great reason.

Febo24 · 23/06/2021 06:36

I still hop in with my 6 and 8yo!

megletthesecond · 23/06/2021 06:38

Tried it once. Never again. They had to have the bath water too cold and too shallow. I was freezing.

Chocolateandamaretto · 23/06/2021 06:39

I don’t enjoy bathing with anyone but 7 year old dd will still hop in the shower with me. 5 year old son has been showering alone since he was about 3 (supervised obviously!) just from personal preference. Oldest dd is 11 and is definitely more into baths so we haven’t washed together a lot since she was a baby.

TreaslakeandBack · 23/06/2021 06:41

Still do, she’s 9.
