It bothers people because it promotes the objectification and commodification of women’s bodies. It magnifies the impression in society that women are primarily for men to look at and act upon rather than, in fact, being thinking and feeling human beings who deserve respect and to be valued in their own right.
“My body, my choice” doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it exists as a “choice” in a quite deeply misogynistic society.
There was a thread on here recently where a young woman at work was having Only Fans comments made to her by a work colleague when she was trying to discuss work issues.
I have teenage twins, boy and girl.
I know that only the girl is likely to get any Only Fans comments.
I don't want her to have to live and work in a culture which normalizes paid sexual activity as a means of success for her.
Her brother isn't going to have this issue but it means I have to push back against the idea that women are a commodity whose bodies are bought and sold for his sexual gratification.
That any woman he fancies might be available in some way for purchase.
It is reductive and damages both young women and young men.
The winners are older wealthier men as usual.
