Blue hair

I know a lot of people mid forties dyeing their hair blue or pink, I don’t get it. Why? It looks awful growing out and their natural colour is better.

Because they want to 🤷‍♀️ Confused

Myleftfoot39 · 21/06/2021 06:55

If it was your GP, solicitor, etc with blue/purple hair. How would you feel?

I really wouldn’t give a shit as long as they could do their job
TheQueef · 21/06/2021 06:57

What has hair colour got to do with professionalism?

Touloser · 21/06/2021 06:57

Fine if they were good at their job. Your hair (piercings and tattoos...) don't determine your intellect or proficiency in a role.

crivit · 21/06/2021 06:57

I'd feel perfectly fine. Dying your hair doesn't mean you suddenly become incompetent at your job.

Soubriquet · 21/06/2021 06:58

A friend of mine has electric blue hair and it looks gorgeous!

She’s a pharmacist. It has no impact on her job

Arbadacarba · 21/06/2021 07:01

The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.

Neither would I. I couldn't care less what their hair is like.

Myleftfoot39 · 21/06/2021 07:02

I see it as very unprofessional, I wouldn’t trust someone’s judgement if they had very brightly coloured hair. I would see at as attention seeking/instability

Well you are very bigoted and obviously better than everyone else

Well, that makes you an idiot then.
TheQueef · 21/06/2021 07:04

What about natural coloured hair Myleft does someone with dyed black hair give the same impression?

😂 I wouldn't give a toss. How does the colour of their hair affect how they do their job?

Do you feel the same way about women that have gone grey?

Myleftfoot39 · 21/06/2021 07:05

I wouldn’t say I’m bigoted or feel superior I just think that having blue hair in a professional capacity is not something I see as right.

In fact, I don’t know many professionals with blue hair.

When I was nationally ranked #1 in a complex legal job I had bright pink or red hair. When I graduation with a first from a RG University I had orange. I guess I'd better refund everyone I've worked with and give back my degree Confused

LynetteScavo · 21/06/2021 07:05

It's a lot to maintain. I don't know anyone in their forties who has done it. It's rare to see a professional face to face these days, so I doubt I'd realise if a professional had done it. A colleague at work dyed her hair blue recently. She was really blonde but it faded quickly. However, she no longer has any brassy tones and so is now platinum and it looks really good.

Well you're a bit daft then. 🤷‍♀️

3Britnee · 21/06/2021 07:06

What about women that wear fun wigs because of alopecia or cancer? 🤔

Myleftfoot39 · 21/06/2021 07:06

I just think dyeing your hair bright colours says ‘I need a lot of attention’

Great if you’re at a festival, great if you are on holiday but not so great if you are a high court judge.

It's not to my taste but agree with pp that their ability and attitude would be far more important.

midgemagneto · 21/06/2021 07:09

So many problems in the world so let's make up some arbitrary rules about his people should treat their own body

It's harmless to them and to you

LolaSmiles · 21/06/2021 07:11

I think it looks silly a lot of the time and the people I know who work through every colour of the rainbow also do a lot of "ooh I'm mad me, so different" sort of comments/behaviour.

I'd not think anything of it on someone I encountered because it's just their hair and I'd not question someone's professionalism for it though.

SnackSizeRaisin · 21/06/2021 07:11

I think people dye their hair for their own benefit. I am not sure it's different from people who wear a lot of make up etc. Attention seeking is generally evident from a person's behaviour rather than their looks.

PineappleMojito · 21/06/2021 07:11

I used to have blue hair! I’ve also had it pink, purple, etc. I have tattoos and piercings and am early 40s. I don’t dye my hair those colours now as it can’t take the bleach, but I would if I could! Thankfully my employers and patients didn’t think like you. Attention seeking and instability, never heard such shit.
