it annoys me to see people on twitter demanding companies stop advertising there and boycotting them.
they don't even a real reason beyond I don't like it.
If you don't like it don't watch it
it literally hasn't even been on for 1 week.
why is everyone such an SJW these days?
do people think they are real activists over twitter?
do you people really think companies care about what they do beyond whether they make more money?
I know about the Epstein thing but that was one of their guests.
sorry a bit of a rant there.
im not trolling just angry

@Mayorquimby2

"Cancel culture brigade' - these are not the words of someone who wants a genuine debate."

Oh don't be so obtuse, of course it is and you know exactly what the poster was trying to convey.

They want an open and genuine debate, having set out their agenda that the people they wish to engage with in this genuine not trolling debate are people who don't even understand what they're own position in the debate is, in fact they don't even have a real reason beyond I don't like it.
And that they're only doing so because everyone these days is a social justice warrior and are part of the cancel culture brigade.
But they're definitely not trolling and they're definitely looking for a genuine good faith debate.

Which is why, to stop this cancel culture we have to cance........ Prohibit people from voicing their opinions on twitter in case companies take them in to consideration and act on them.

Grin

In spite of nobody in the world admitting to reading the DM it seems to be going from strength to strength. This might be the same. I did watch it a couple of times and wasn't very impressed. I agree it looked really amateurish.

sleepygnome · 17/06/2021 16:41

Brilliant for GB News.Just ever more publicity. Hopefully Twitter will keep providing them with a bigger and bigger audience Grin.

Penistoe · 17/06/2021 16:45

Lefties have been foaming at the mouth about it because the only opinions permitted are theirs

The daily mail were demanding a boycott of brands who refuse to advertise on gb news yesterday. It’s funny how the right complain about cancel culture and freedom of speech until it’s something they don’t agree with.
It’s not ‘lefties that are perpetually outraged.

Classica · 17/06/2021 16:53

That is true. They'll probably need to add a 'side boob and shapely pins' section though if that's their aim.

(they may already have one)

Aww the fragility of some of these right wing snowflakes, market dictates how profitable ads will be, if your brands target audience is gammon then I'm sure they will happily advertise on there, unless you think the government should bring in controls to stop companies from pulling their ads? grin*
Anyone using words like gammon is rascist

Mayorquimby2 · 17/06/2021 17:08

😂😂

A for effort. You'll get a few bites

Viviennemary · 17/06/2021 17:20

All the lefties frothing doesn't seem to have the desired effect. Think Brexit and Tory landslide. Oh dear.

luckylavender · 17/06/2021 17:22

@highlighteryellow - I agree with you. But I don't agree that the only agenda that currently gets heard is the 'woke' liberal Left agenda.

ichundich · 17/06/2021 17:44

Why, it's a free market and companies can choose whether they want to spend their marketing budget on a platorm that is rabidly right-wing 🤷‍♀️.

SticksAndStoned · 17/06/2021 17:54

What I'm seeing is people complaining about cancel culture while threatening to boycott companies for not advertising in one outlet.

The irony is really amusing.

You couldn't make it up 😂!
Trevsadick · 17/06/2021 18:24

I haven't seen much of it.

But I have seen companies saying they are withdrawing advertising because it goes against their company values.

Someone above called it a channel for revolting views.

Can ask, what are the values GB news goes against? And what views on it are revolting.

I am assuming I have missed something, because I havent watched it much. I am not a fan of it, especially Dan Wooton.

But I am failing to see why people think its against their values or revolting.

SticksAndStoned · 17/06/2021 18:27

What I've seen are companies saying that they don't advertise in new outlets until they see if the valued presented are in line with their company values. Which seems fair enough.

I don't know anything about GB News to be fair.

Blossomtoes · 17/06/2021 18:31

Most gammons are racist. HTH.

BlatantlyNameChanged · 17/06/2021 18:36

Anyone using words like gammon is rascist

You need to read up on what constitutes racism. Perhaps ask some gammons that you know?

80Days · 17/06/2021 18:42

I guess the advertisers will go for whatever they feel is most profitable for them.

@milveycrohn Hopefully nothing about Harry and Meghan, which is the other main topic these days.
I’ve had a couple of looks at GB News, one of the bits I saw featured some sort of royal “expert” having a massive rant about Harry and Meghan. She was getting really very worked up about them.

Would love to see the mental gymnastics it take to get to that conclusion, any chance you could include your working out?

I haven't watched any GB news yet but remembered seeing this thread active a few days ago and thought you'd be interested in this review from the Irish Times about how its first couple of days went.

Jazzybeats · 19/06/2021 06:29

Free speech means people can complain. Companies are free to do what they like about those complaints. You are free to buy the brands you like.

MissTrip82 · 19/06/2021 06:41

Not sure I really believe that anyone who starts with anything as embarrassingly intellectually lazy as ‘is everyone a SJW these days’ is actually interested in hearing anyone else’s views at all.
