For me it's Morning Fresh. I thought it was shite a decade ago. Bought it again recently and it is still crap. It doesn't lather and my usual Aldi own brand is far superior. How on earth has it survived this long?

@Moonlaserbearwolf

Hunter wellies. Overpriced rubbish these days. Used to be well made - not any more.
Yes is agree. I used to wear them constantly to muck out horses, field / yard duties but these days they are so overpriced all becos Kate moss wore a pair to Glastonbury !
MaBroon21 · 15/06/2021 07:45

A disgrace at the price they're asking but... they can't stop selling the things because people either don't know about the issues, or they hear about them but want that badge so much they're willing to overlook it

Or perhaps they just haven’t experienced any of the problems you’ve mentioned and they don’t know anyone who has either amongst their many family and friends who own them.

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 15/06/2021 07:45

Pandora jewellery. I seriously don’t understand it.

Wegobshite · 15/06/2021 07:46

Dyson
I swooped my shit dyson for a shark
But I got a Henry as well and it’s far superior to either a dyson or a shark
And it’s much cuter

FrostyFruit · 15/06/2021 07:49

Yes definitely genuine, bought from sports store. Seems to be the air max 90s that fall apart. The rest aren't so bad but my boys have to have air max's to fit in with the cool kids lol.

FrostyFruit · 15/06/2021 07:49

Sorry that was supposed to quote the reply to my comment. Not sure why it didn't work.

MagicSummer · 15/06/2021 07:50

I really cannot understand what people see in Pandora. If you want to spend a reasonable amount on jewellery, why not save up and buy something gold or silver, rather than a bit of base metal?

Agree with the PP who said that Next used to be a lovely shop; the tops and knitwear used to be folded up on shelves, the directory had real material swatches, the clothes were middle to upper end of the high street. Now I order stuff and nearly everything goes back - either the material is horrible, the sleeves are too long and they just don't fit!

Boden I always have high hopes for, but again I have ordered so much stuff which has to go backj. Maybe I am a funny shape (I am!). Love their cashmere jumpers though!

IronTeeth · 15/06/2021 07:52

@TotorosCatBus

I consider Bayliss and Harding to be a Molton Brown wannabe dupe.
Exactly what it is
Ickythefirebobby · 15/06/2021 07:52

@Marmite27

Heinz beans. DC had them on a meal at a play gym the other day and I honestly thought they were the cheapest of cheap beans.
You can’t beat Branston beans.
AbsolutelyPatsy · 15/06/2021 07:52

Disappointed in M & S clothes, my usual Go to, so many are polyester

muddyford · 15/06/2021 07:53

Another vote for Hunter. I swapped to Aigle a decade ago and have ever regretted it.

LightasaBreeze · 15/06/2021 07:54

There is always a large queue at Pandora after Christmas of people returning the tat, it's one of those places where people buy shit Christmas gifts.

torquewench · 15/06/2021 07:55

@DeepDown12

Karen Millen... went downhill since taken over by Boohoo.
Yep. Really noticeable on their website too. It now looks like BooHoo rather than KM.

Apple
Dyson
It's all good marketing

Dyson, sure. Apple? Even if they’re not for you you can’t seriously argue that their phones, tablets, computers, and computers at least hold their own against anything their rivals offer.

Personally I don’t know anyone who having used an apple device has then gone back to something else. Whereas movement in the other direction has been huge the past decade+

supermoonrising · 15/06/2021 07:58

@SarahBellam
Never bought much adult stuff there. But I find the Next kids range to be outstanding for the price. I rarely bother with anything else.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 15/06/2021 07:59

Jo Malone

(Hotel Chocolat may not live up to the premium expectations we expect, given the price and marketing. It's pricey but passable. At least it isn't made by child slaves, unlike most of the chocolate many of you buy, eat and give to your own children)

inappropriateraspberry · 15/06/2021 08:01

Pretty much all food brands. Own brands are as good or better. Half the reason I shop in Lidl!

supermoonrising · 15/06/2021 08:08

@Espee
It’s not the fact they’re made in China that makes them cheap, it’s the fact that the factory in China is directed to use cheaper, substandard materials. Sorry, it just annoys me the outdated “China = Cheap” thing. Probably about 50%+ of British high street clothes are made in China, some are utter cheap garbage and some are very decent. It’s not about the geographic location of manufacturing, it’s about the business model of the company and what factories their hire, materials they choose to use and how much they pay their staff in China/Indonesia/Bangladesh etc. Manufacturing in developing countries doesn’t mean you have to produce crap. (Ive also often found the “decent” clothes stores in the U.K. sell Primark level tat at a 100% mark up).

sandgrown · 15/06/2021 08:08

North Face coats were originally for climbing mountains but now the logo peels off after a few months making them unwearable for my label conscious teenager . Ditto Armani EA7.

Tooshytoshine · 15/06/2021 08:14

Smeg appliances - other than the largely indestructible fridges... Utter shite

supermoonrising · 15/06/2021 08:15

Does anybody anywhere have anything good to say about Dyson? Were they ever any good or was it just always about them having the right business connections? In see days of user reviews at fingertips it’s a wonder they’re still on business!

Squiz81 · 15/06/2021 08:17

@Cheeseandlobster Just looked up Morning Fresh, I’m not sure that is marketed as a ‘premium product’ do you just mean well known brand? Have to say I’m using some Aldi washing up liquid at the moment and I don’t like it because it’s too lathery 😅 I generally buy shop own brands but I do think it’s worth buying Fairy liquid, it lasts much longer and cleans so much better. It probably works out cheaper.

For beans, the ‘essential Waitrose’ ones are great and much cheaper than Heinz.

Definitely don’t agree with the Lindt hate! I love lindor.

Me, I had an apple phone and absolutely hated it

Have a work apple phone, 50 minutes on with helpdesk to get it working right, hate it

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/06/2021 08:25

I think a lot of these brands (Pandora, Ted Baker, Michael Kors) aren’t bad quality, the posters just don’t like the brand. Which is fine, they are marketing to my DDs not me, it’s not my thing either. Pandora is sterling silver though not base metal like suggested by a PP and bought in the sale is similar price to cheaper brands and good quality. I often buy my DDs the earrings and rings. There’s a lot of snobbery on the thread

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 15/06/2021 08:26

If you want an alternative to Dyson, my cordless Beko is superior in every way. Beko is regarded as the cheap end of the market, but their products stand up to the competition.
