Too hot for a nightie?

Zig27 · 12/06/2021 09:03

I slept with a 2 tog duvet and a nightie last night but have woke up feeling hot. I don’t know if it’s a health issue or I shouldn’t be wearing a nightie in the summer. My body can get cold at first when I sleep so I like something on but hate waking up hot.

It’s very warm. I fell asleep in the nude just hugging my sheets with nothing covering me last night.

shouldistop · 12/06/2021 09:12

Well, what temperature is your room?

Zig27 · 12/06/2021 09:13

@shouldistop It’s usually 23 degrees at night which is too hot but unfortunately the sun shines on the windows in the day which I keep the curtains closed. I’ll probably just have to sleep with nothing on.

When it’s really hot I take the duvet out and just use the sheet

DotsandCo · 12/06/2021 09:15

Just take it off 🤷‍♀️

(Am I being dense here? Not sure what the issue is!)

stackemhigh · 12/06/2021 09:15

I can’t sleep naked either but find a skimpy cotton vest and pyjamas with just a duvet cover without a duvet in it work best for me and DH.

Even 2 tog duvets can be too warm.

funnylittlefloozie · 12/06/2021 09:21

What did you do last year in the summer? It was very hot then as well.

CounsellorTroi · 12/06/2021 09:23

Cotton vest and shorts pjs for me.

cupsofcoffee · 12/06/2021 09:23

Just use a sheet over you instead of a duvet.

ShaunaTheSheep · 12/06/2021 09:23

Open the windows in the evening to cool the room.

I’m just using an empty duvet cover to sleep under at the moment. I find I’m hotter if I don’t wear pjs as my legs stick together and feel horrible. I prefer a loose cotton T-shirt and thin pj bottoms.

Zig27 · 12/06/2021 09:27

Thanks for those who have made some helpful suggestions. I don’t know why the passive aggressive trolls make comments on here if they don’t help. I genuinely wanted to make sure I didn’t have a health issue. The solution is remove some layers and cool the room down.

Just take it off
You don't need to ask the internet if you should bare your arse or not

InnaBun · 12/06/2021 09:30

Try just using the duvet cover. I have the same problem.

stackemhigh · 12/06/2021 09:30

OP, ignore the twatty comments. Have you thought about a 100% cotton quilt and go in the wash. They can be more temperature regulating than duvets. Even 1 tog duvets can be too warm.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/06/2021 09:33

I always sleep with a sheet between me and duvet as I hate having nothing over me. I sleep naked and if I get too hot I kick off the duvet and have a (lovely Egyptian cotton)!sheet

MostlyNormalSometimesOdd · 12/06/2021 09:33

I love sleeping without a nightie, DH doesn't complain either Blush

motogogo · 12/06/2021 09:34

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair

We'll put!

It's odd because even at 3 I remember my dd telling me it was too hot for pjs and she just wanted to wear her pants and vest. If a 3 year old can determine what to wear why not a grown woman.

Ps I never wear nightwear, completely superfluous in a centrally heated house, saves on washing!

KingdomScrolls · 12/06/2021 09:34

Have you got a fan? I don't like up sleeping naked mainly since my parents got burgled and my dad thumped one of them whilst nude (my mum said it added a comedic twist to a scary experience but still) . I tend to sleep in knickers (cotton boy short type) and a vest

I don't think you know what a troll is.

And, to be fair, it's astonishing that an adult can't determine why they're too hot (in summer!) without consulting an Internet forum.

Planty13 · 12/06/2021 09:36

Eh?? Just cover yourself with less. I have a fan all night

Oh come off it, you haven't said where you live but if it's in England we've had the hottest nights of the year so far this week

The whole country has woken up hot, of course it weird that you can't work out that either fewer layers or some kind of cooling might be the solution.

@Wrotten is right, a troll isn't someone who points out the obvious Grin

eddiemairswife · 12/06/2021 09:52

Just a sheet and bedroom windows open.

Wrotten · 12/06/2021 09:57

Oooh. I'm not used to being right. @AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair please can you follow me around and comment that I'm right every time I say something?
