To think this is too far to walk?

To school for a child?

15 minutes there and then 15 minutes back. Child is 7. It's to collect another child so would have to do the walk back immediately.

Seems fine unless there are additional needs.

Moonshine11 · 03/06/2021 14:40

Sounds fine to me tbh

pinkyredrose · 03/06/2021 14:41

It is absolutely not too far, why on earth would you think it was?!Confused

superking · 03/06/2021 14:41

So 30 minutes total? For 7 year old? Sounds absolutely fine, why wouldn't it be?

User629202 · 03/06/2021 14:41

I think a 7yo should be absolutely fine to do a half hour walk.

yikesanotherbooboo · 03/06/2021 14:41

Definitely not too far.

AddisonMontgomeryShepherd · 03/06/2021 14:42

No I wouldn't say that's too far for a 7 year old at all.

Lindy2 · 03/06/2021 14:42

A 7 year old should be able to manage that without any difficulties in my opinion. Unless there's a mobility/health issue I can't see why a half hour walk would be any problem.

ETgo · 03/06/2021 14:42

I think thats absolutely fine, don't know anyone personally who would even consider that too far to be honest.
I'd be more concerned if i had a 7 year old that couldn't walk for 30 minutes.

MumInBrussels · 03/06/2021 14:43

My 3 year old walks 15 mins to the park, runs around the park, and walks 15 mins back with no trouble - is there a particular reason you think your 7 year old might struggle?

Takemetothebar · 03/06/2021 14:43

Unless there are additional needs you haven’t mentioned, of course it’s not too far!! The child is 7....

soundsystem · 03/06/2021 14:43

Waiting for the massive drip feed...

In the absence of any additional needs you haven't mentioned it sounds absolutely fine. My 6 and 4 year olds do that daily to school.

TrinidadQueen · 03/06/2021 14:44

I'm worried it's too far.

OP posts:
nimbuscloud · 03/06/2021 14:44

Can’t see the difficulty.

OhToBeASeahorse · 03/06/2021 14:44

Not unless there is some kind of disability involved.

CutMyPieIntoPieces · 03/06/2021 14:44

My kids all walk 40 mins to school and back. Have done since reception, no car. Wind, rain, snow.

bigbluebus · 03/06/2021 14:44

Not too far at all. I'm a member of a village walking group. We've had 5 year olds walk 5 - 6 miles (and these aren't children whose parents walk a lot).

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/06/2021 14:44

I'm sorry to go all three yorkshiremen but 15 minutes? Not miles? We walked that and some everyday. Children up chimneys, digging potatoes for breakfast etc.

BlueDucky · 03/06/2021 14:45

By themselves?

Scbchl · 03/06/2021 14:45

Walking for half an hour for a 7 year old? Unless they have a broken leg or their legs are in braces that is absolutely not too far.

Recycledblonde · 03/06/2021 14:45

Even I, a fat, late 50’s with terminally dodgy knees and an aversion to exercise, could manage that with ease. To be honest I’d expect a four year old to do it without a problem.

nimbuscloud · 03/06/2021 14:45

It’s good for a child to have lots of exercise.

CutMyPieIntoPieces · 03/06/2021 14:45

Do you mean alone? Or with an adult?

TrinidadQueen · 03/06/2021 14:45

With an adult

It's not too far at all OP. Also, the more they do it, the easier it gets.
