Do I need a PCR test to get into the republic? Do I need to quarantine? I keep reading the gov sites, and then at the end it says 'except Ireland or the Common Travel Area'. I don't understand!!!!!

Yes I am also hoping for clarity about children and quarantining soon. I haven't seen most of family in 2 years, my mum in 18 months. I have to go in the school holidays, otherwise god knows when I and my children will get to see them next. My children are under 6, they are missing so much time with my family.

I will be 2 weeks post full vaccination, although my DH probably wont. I think there might be some changes announced on the 19th? I'm hopefully that at least me and the kids might be able to go out and about a little.

My parents are in their 80's. My father is just coming out after a 2 week stay in hospital. I'm scared if I don't get over this summer it might be too late :( That's why I was looking at coming in through the north.

I'm supposed to be getting the ferry on the 24th in to Dublin from Holyhead with my three kids. I'm fully vaccinated but the kids aren't - are we any clearer on the rule for isolating in this case? We have an air bnb for a week before visiting family so if it's 5 days I'm fine if it's ten I need to cancel Sad

It’s five days if you are vaccinated but ten if not. But depends on ages of children. It will be reviewed soon though and will likely change after the 19th. When do you need to cancel by?

The kids are 13, 11 and 8 - all unvaccinated but do they have to do the ten? That's what I can't figure out... it's fully flexible to change but from a life point of view I really need to know

I’ve just read the text I got from Gov.ie.

It says if you are not vaccinated due to concerns about the Delta COVID variant you are requested to remain in home quarantine and seek another test at least 10 days after arrival.

I was watching the news last night and they will be reviewing it all due to the EU COVID passport/certificate and will be looking at the issue of travellers from Britain too.

It’s hard to know really but if I could delay a couple of weeks I probably would so at least you would know for sure.

I can't change the dates of travel due to work/custody arrangements

Saoirse82 · 09/07/2021 04:36

You can travel through the North to visit family in the Republic. The North being part of the UK so there's no restrictions on travel to there, and then you are free to cross the border into the Republic without a PCR.

kissmelittleass · 09/07/2021 09:05

@Saoirse82 not great advice to be advising someone to go through the north into the republic without a pcr!!!!!!!!! Two fingers to us in the republic so...

WeatherToday · 15/07/2021 12:51

I believe the rules have been updated on these two government sites
www.gov.ie/en/publication/b4020-travelling-to-ireland-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/travel_to_ireland/travel_to_ireland_during_covid.html

You will still need a PCR test within 3 days of departure.
It says you still need to quarantine for 14 days but you can stop quarantining if you pass a PCR test, taken 5 days after your arrival.
There is now, no mention of a second test required after 10 days.

fluckityfluckfluck · 18/07/2021 14:22

It's finally clear! We can go. Only dd13 will need a pcr and no quarantine!!! So excited
