I managed to lose my phone in my own home, in the space of two minutes. Without going into details, I REALLY need this phone. It's a very bad time to lose it.

I can't ring it because it's on Do Not Disturb.

I've searched high and low. It's going to run out of battery eventually and then I definitely won't be able to ring it. Please, Mumsnet, can you help me.

Any piles of washing?
Be really methodical. Start in one room and slowly and thoroughly work your way round. Then onto the next

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/06/2021 22:04

Under the dog/cat?
Near the kettle?

ToffeePennie · 01/06/2021 22:04

If you have Do not disturb turned on, text your number with “emergency” and it should allow you to make a noisy call to it.
Otherwise try my favourite, a whatsapp face time call - they’re stupidly noisy and seem to overrun even my silent mode!

BreedingOinkers · 01/06/2021 22:04

I’m just posting for the reveal of where it was

Charleymouse · 01/06/2021 22:05

In your bra?

Me too!
Nancylovesthecock · 01/06/2021 22:05

@BrownEyedGirl80

Are you typing on it now?
Haha @browneyedgirl80 this is totally something I would do. I've panicked i've lost it before whilst talking on it.
longcoffeebreak · 01/06/2021 22:06

In the loo

LeonoraFlorence · 01/06/2021 22:06

I have found mine down inside the actual couch before. I had checked all the cushions repeatedly but it had slipped down a side into the body of the couch. Maybe worth a try.

DeepNorthFarmGardening · 01/06/2021 22:07

Turn all the lights off and close all the curtains.

Even if it doesn't ring it will light up.

Found my phone that way loads of times.

Youdoyoutoday · 01/06/2021 22:07

What have you done so wrong that your phone, if found by someone else, is going to cause so much trouble???
It's on DND, you're so panicky......

SlightlySleepy · 01/06/2021 22:07

If it's android, download 'Google find my device' from the play store (it's an app made by Google). You can use it from any android device to make your phone ring, even if it's on silent. All you have to do is sign in with your Gmail account on the app then it knows which phones belong to you. It tells you their approximate location, battery life, it can lock your phone and, most importantly, make it ring loudly

Stealthtoast · 01/06/2021 22:08

Is it Android? If so you can make it ring from a computer www.skipser.com/p/2/p/locate-silent-android-phone.html

AdaColeman · 01/06/2021 22:08

In a child's toy box?

BlueDucky · 01/06/2021 22:08

Down the side of the sofa cushion?
On the washing pile?
In the washing machine?
In your knicker drawer?
In the airing cupboard?
In the biscuit tin?
Under the remote control?
In the dog's mouth?

ohidoliketobe · 01/06/2021 22:08

Is there a flat surface near the door of the bathroom you might have put it down on before nipping to use the toilet? I often put mine down on the top step of the stairs near the bathroom, or on the side table in the hall near the downstairs loo, and forget to pick it back up until I come to use it again

2orangey · 01/06/2021 22:08

Handbag?
Pile of books / DVDs / letters?
Packaging that's gone into recycling?
Under cushions / pillows?
Inside tissue box?
By sink?
On top of printer?

FangsForTheMemory · 01/06/2021 22:08

Dressing gown pocket. My favourite place for losing things.

Fridge.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/06/2021 22:08

As above, if an iPhone you can send an alarm to your phone which will override DND

Otherwise, the lights off and sending a text to make it light up is a good idea

ilovesooty · 01/06/2021 22:09

@youwouldthink

Pull all blinds and turn lights off. Even when do not disturb should light up when called or text you may be able to see the light
Great idea. Much easier to look in the dusk than in daylight.
KittyFilter · 01/06/2021 22:10

Retrace your steps. When do you remember having it in your hand last and what did you do from that moment on?

Gladioli23 · 01/06/2021 22:10

You can definitely make an android phone v ring even on DND from a computer - Google "find my phone".

I think you can do the same with apple by logging into iCloud.

Leah2005 · 01/06/2021 22:10

On the banister at the bottom of the stairs.

realhousewifeofnowhere · 01/06/2021 22:12

Thank you thank you thank you Mumsnet!!!!

Thanks again!!
