To poke ds and hold him up to the ceiling at 3am?

New neighbours moved into the upstairs flat a couple of weeks ago.

They seem to believe that 9.30pm is a good time to start drilling and hammering.

Ds doesn't cry when he wakes up in the night but I'm sure if I poked him, he would.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much of a bad mother would this make me?

not a bad mother at all! try it and let us know how you get on

Erm sorry but 10! Have a word with them though or record him crying at another time and play it when they start their noise.

I have sympathy for you my upstairs neighbour is the same, they seem to sleep all day and make noise all through the night.

Ha ha. Sounds like a good plan

Any chance of dropping them a welcome to the neighbourhood card from you and baby below and mentioning that you will try to stop baby screaming and disturbing them at night, if they could possibly stop DIY at a reasonable time?

Failing that, I think the recording of screaming baby is a brill idea. If you played it each time they started hammering, even if ds hasn't woken up, they might get the message!

I think I shall be mature and start with the card, good idea btw, and then move onto the recording...almost hoping I'll get to use it.
