I'm so tired of posters not reading the thread and either missing crucial updates or repeating the same comment 500 times.

Go on, I dare you to tell me I'm being unreasonable... but only if you read all the previous comments!

@SquashMinusIsShit

I get annoyed when this thread appears pretty much weekly Grin

No thanks.

This place gets mental traffic, no way I'm wasting my life reading 15 pages of comments before posting.

Everleigh2021 · 26/05/2021 18:17

i agree....too time consuming reading everything

i will read/comment as i like!

Catswithflamingos · 26/05/2021 18:29

It’s when they miss something in the OP!

Op: I’ve got this problem. I’ve tried A, B and C.

Commenter: hi op, have you tried B?

Well in this case, try reading the earlier posts!

It's really not time-consuming to read the OP's posts, given the function to filter them.

Equally reading the end of a long-running thread gives an indication of where the thread has got to.

After that, comment with abandon! But it's not 'time-consuming' to do those 2 things.

the neuro diverse ones piss me off.
Not all neuro diverse people are twats
All twats are twats.
Neuro diversity often has nothing to do with it.
It is not being inclusive it is activitly discriminating against neuro diverse people by assuming that neuro diverse people are twats. Some are actually really lovely superbly well behaved people who get fed up of people making assumptions about twats being neuro diverse.

The new read all op feature is really handy tbh.

I also saw the one about the poster having past and people still asking if she had a nice hol. I couldn't read it in the end.

Everleigh2021 · 26/05/2021 18:43

@EarringsandLipstick nah you're alright ta.....i'll do it my own way

always have, always will. soz an all

(This is why I want a "like" or "agree" button, but the idea is unpopular.)

Well at least you're honest about needing to have your voice heard without making any effort with the conversation.

No need to bother with the faux apology really. You're just rude and you don't see any reason not to be.

UrAWizHarry · 26/05/2021 18:55

YANBU. Anyone can park on the street.

PurpleDaisies · 26/05/2021 18:59

It’s really off when a poster has admitted they were out of order and then new posters arrive to kick them. The show op’s posts function ought to have stopped that now but some people think their two cents is too important to check they’re not going to look like a twit.

Bluetrews25 · 26/05/2021 19:15

Sorry, not had time to read the whole thread. Apologies if this has already been said, but you really need to cancel the cheque!

If you think it's too long already, why add to it?
misspattylacosta · 26/05/2021 19:22

The thread police is even more tiring frankly.

As is your right.

OP: Shall I do A or B?
First 100 posters: A (or as the case may be, B)
Meanwhile: OP - Sorry, it's a bit of a dripfeed, but .... provides information which makes it abundantly clear that both A and B are side issues. Conversation moves on. Those who have taken the trouble to read both OP's posts provide sensible suggestions and comments.

Meanwhile, those who haven't taken that basic and hardly onerous precaution keep firing off:

A! (or as the case may be, B)

Thus making themselves look like twats. As is their right.

Peachesarepeach · 26/05/2021 19:35

Yeah I find it odd that people can't even be bothered to scan the thread (including the ops posts) and take a general sense check, but still think their point is so invaluable THAT.THEY.MUST.COMMENT. But they must expect someone to bother reading their posts otherwise why bother making them?

However this thread has made me laugh, and I totally deserved all the duplicating piss-takes!

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 26/05/2021 19:41

Oh if people want to show themselves up as blundering, lazy and rude, they do of course have that right. Grin

SaskiaRembrandt · 26/05/2021 19:49

@missmopple

why should anyone have to plough through loads of messages before giving an opinion?

There was a recent thread asking for holiday suggestions which had been updated to say that the poster had passed away.

People were still posting in response to the orignal OP and wishing her a good trip.

Sad

That's so sad Sad And it makes the people who don't read the thread look like even bigger assbutts because the people who knew her would have found it so hurtful.
BackforGood · 26/05/2021 19:55

I tend to read the OP’s posts and maybe the first and last page of very long threads. It takes ages to plough through exceptionally long threads. Do occasionally miss the odd bit of info because I tend to skim read. It’s thankfully Mumsnet, not a dissertation.

This ^
I get on a 10 page thread, people don't have the time or the inclination to read every post, but it isn't difficult to skim through and read the OP's posts.
