To ask about your nightwear

Prompted because of pics people put on SM “relaxing in my PJs” or “ready for bed and just chilling” in lovely, silky attire which would drive me mad to sleep in, plus a different set each night! So my questions to you are:
Do you have special evening outfits which you then remove for bed?
How many sleep outfits do you have? I have two (plus one ancient backup in case of unimaginable disaster) and wear each for a couple of nights.

I generally don’t put pyjamas on until bedtime unless I’m feeling unwell.

I’ve got loads of pyjamas (M&S normal ones, not silk! Hmm) and wear them 2-3 nights then they go in the wash. I’d never sleep without clothes- too cold and unhygienic.

StarlightLady · 25/05/2021 13:27

@VestaTilley - Why is my freshly showered naked body in my own bedding less hygienic, than your PJs on the second or third consecutive night.

LouLou789 · 25/05/2021 15:30

Since starting this thread I came back on the read the replies, and there are now ads for nightwear at the top of the page 😵

OP, as I sleep naked they won’t influence me 🤭.

Gigia · 25/05/2021 15:42

I wear pyjamas, I'm always too cold to wear less and I have loads of pairs and wear a fresh set every night

amusedbush · 25/05/2021 15:46

I don’t own any pyjamas. I never, ever wear ‘real’ clothes when I’m in the house, I like to be comfy so I wear leggings and baggy t-shirts. I’ll put on a nicer top for Zoom meetings but that’s it.

I sleep in a t-shirt, pants and socks (I can’t stand the feeling of bare feet in bed!) all year. I have a thick duvet for winter and a thin one for summer so I don’t need to bundle up.

honeylulu · 25/05/2021 16:01

I have various sorts of nightwear but the only ones I wear regularly are loose-ish cotton chemise type nighties. I like to have my "parts" uncovered when in bed, armpits too. Wearing pants in bed feels horribly restrictive and sweaty. Had no idea how common it was until mumsnet!

I only started wearing nighties regularly when we had our youngest who often got in bed with us and I wanted my nakedness covered at least superficially. Also started to get a middle aged tum and preferred to cover it up so I can pretend I'm slim as I used to be, ha!

I only wear pyjamas when it's really cold.

Acupofcamus · 25/05/2021 16:01

I don’t own pyjamas, haven’t since I was probably 12/13 at a push. I sleep in a T-shirt and my knickers, if it’s hot I scrap the T-shirt. Always done this, comfortable like this. I wear my clothes until it’s time for a shower and bed. I don’t own loungewear either, just my general clothes. DH is the same.

I have about 2 cosy tartan PJ sets; long sleeved silk PJ set; 2 vest top/long bottoms sets; 2 vest/t-shirt sets for summer. Almost all form the White Company, so I guess they're at the 'nicer' end.

I put them on either right before bed, or after having an evening shower and then hang out/watch TV in them. Also a winter and a summer dressing gown.

DH and the children all have multiple nice sets too.

motogogo · 25/05/2021 16:08

I have a couple of nightdresses for staying at other peoples houses and sensible pj's for camping, but wear nothing at home - have an en suite so modesty isn't an issue

IntermittentParps · 25/05/2021 16:08

I've worked at home for years now, but when I didn't I used to like changing into joggers etc when I got home. Not PJs though; I 'cook' overnight in bed, so can only handle light clothes for sleeping in, which wouldn't be warm enough for sitting around in the evening.
For bed I wear cotton shorts (I have about three pairs) or light cotton trousers (I've got loads) and a vest top. Long-sleeved cotton top on top for sitting up reading.

Picklypickles · 25/05/2021 16:09

I have about 3/4 winter pj sets usually leggings and a t-shirt but I usually always wear my big baggy nightie as its so comfy and its not often cold enough to warrant pajamas in my house.

Hankunamatata · 25/05/2021 16:11

I have day pjs/house clothes for around the house. Then really worn comfy cotton nightie for bed.

backtowasteanotherhour · 25/05/2021 16:13

I have 2 pairs of fleece PJ pants that I wear in cool weather before climbing into bed, then again after getting up. There's a voluminous fleece robe, too. None of these things match, and they each have kitschy prints. Polar bears, oversized polka dots and plaids. Elegant, understated, and oh so sexy. Wink

No matter the season, I always sleep in a loose-fitting t-shirt and underwear. I'm too hot if I sleep in anything else. If it's chilly, I have another blanket on the bed.

I would never, ever share a photo of myself in my "nightwear". Only my husband ever sees me like that.

queenofthenorthwest · 25/05/2021 16:13

Sometimes I sleep naked.

I have a set of Victoria secret classic pjs that I only wear when I'm on my own as a night to chill out in. I'm scared to ruin them!

I also have lots of shorts, jogging bottoms, loungewear, vests etc that I sleep in.

LeafBeetle · 25/05/2021 16:15

If I'm wearing jeans I don't change in the evenings. If I'm smartly dressed for work (still wfh at the moment so no chance of that), I'll put on my jeans.

Bedtime: PJs. Practical not slinky.

RoosterRaveUp · 25/05/2021 16:20

Change as soon as I get home into pj bottoms and a vest top.

Strip to get into bed. Can only sleep naked. Even if a have a lite nap in the day I strip off.

PickAChew · 25/05/2021 16:25

I have a drawer full of comfy Jersey pyjamas which I most definitely wear to bed. I sleep better all wrapped up and like to be decent enough to get straight up if one of the boys (teens with SN) needs attention. (Ds2 also has a habit of pulling the covers off me, if he wants my attention)

MsSquiz · 25/05/2021 16:27

I tend to wear a vest and shorts for bed, to sleep. But will wear long pyjama bottoms, leggings or joggers in the evening with a t shirt or hoody depending on how warm or cold it is

LadyDanburysCane · 25/05/2021 16:29

I have a few sets of PJs. Some with long trousers, some with shorts. I don’t wear them in bed though. I take them on holiday to pull on when I get out of bed or I wear them after a shower. I don’t pose for photos in my PJs. I sleep naked.

StarlightLady · 25/05/2021 16:31

For those of you with a proliferation of layers in bed, how many hours notice do you have to give if you want sex 😂 ?

IntermittentParps · 25/05/2021 16:34

StarlightLady, not that I wear 'a proliferation of layers' Grin, but I actually find it sexier to be wearing stuff because then you get to/have to undress each other.

Curlymam88 · 25/05/2021 16:47

I cant wear pjs to bed...all the pj legs twisting around your legs, one leg rolls up one down then the top twisting round and tits getting in a twist with it all. I cant wear them. I do wear them in evenings before bed and when I'm up for breakfast. Usually cuffed leg bottoms and a cami top cant forget the fluffy dressing gown too.

Boood · 25/05/2021 16:47

I change after dinner into leggings or jogging bottoms and tshirt and hoody. It’s more comfortable for lounging around and it means “proper” clothes can be worn more often between washing. I would absolutely not post photos of it anywhere or leave the house or appear in front of anyone except my husband in it. Then at bedtime I change again into a different tshirt that is one of a set kept just for sleeping in.
Thinking about it, on Fridays I wear five different outfits:
Get up and put exercise gear on for exercising
Shower and change into daytime clothes- probably jeans and tshirt
Shower again and put “going out” clothes on- probably different jeans and fancier top
Come home and put lounging around clothes on
Go to bed in night clothes
My life is just constant changing clothes like a Victorian lady!

ihavethehighground · 25/05/2021 17:05

Big comfy t shirt type nighties
