OR...to park on the grass out the front and churn it all up in this weather?

YANBU

StrawberryMartini · 17/11/2007 08:38

I'd say unless you were living next to a dentist that's bang out of order.

Divvy · 17/11/2007 08:40

They are building a wanky extention to the back of there house...to go with the wanky extention at the front of there house....its hideous!

I would rather my neighbour started drilling at 8 in the morning, than started later and perhaps not be finished the job by 8 in the evening.

GodzillasBumcheek · 17/11/2007 08:41

But that's just me and i have extensive experience of irritating neighbours.

DaisyMoo · 17/11/2007 08:52

Planning permission sometimes comes with caveats about when the work should be done - ie not after a certain time at night and not at weekends, so you could check on that.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 17/11/2007 08:54

i'm waiting about another 10mins is that acceptable?

southeastastra · 17/11/2007 08:55

we had that for months whilst next door was being modernised. drilling always strarted at 7.30 on saturdays. i used to drive me barmy. so sympathies.

Divvy · 17/11/2007 09:03

Its stopped now

If it's going on all week too, then YANBU, as they should give you a break at least two days a week.

kekouan · 19/11/2007 08:19

I don't think 8:30 is that early, but it would still piss me off...

Our council does things at stupid times of day which are very annoying - last thing was cutting down trees at 7am on a Saturday. Not good.

Just ask him if he minds waiting until after 9am maybe?

Blandmum · 19/11/2007 08:20

I would say that after 8 is OK, and after 9 is polite!

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 19/11/2007 08:24

Our neighbours have been building/extending their house for so long now that I can't remember if it's 3 or 4 years. Really.

They haven't been too bad on the noise front, but the general disruption and feeling like we're living on a building site really gets me down sometimes.

So you have all my sympathy, even if I don't think it's actually that early to start drilling!

Bouncingturtle · 19/11/2007 08:28

On a weekend - yes, YANBU, some people like to have a bit of a lie in!
Grass thing is bloody annoying too - had some neighbours who did that at our old house, ended up with muddy pavements too

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 19/11/2007 09:17

Sorry - just spotted that you posted this at the weekend, in which case YANBU!

dooley1 · 19/11/2007 09:20

I don't think 8.30am is too early at all. At this time of year builders have to start earlier as it gets dark earlier.
If it was beofore 8am that would be too early

dooley1 · 19/11/2007 09:21

oops yes before 9am at the w/end unacceptable!
