For his dedication to the country for the past 18 months.

I also secretly find him a bit attractive: reckon it’s his humble intelligence

OP posts:
ineedaholidaynow · 20/05/2021 08:59

He’s also carried on doing his day job on the wards etc

SarahBellam · 20/05/2021 08:59

He deserves a sainthood for his efforts at reining in that hairy blonde gobshite. Without Whitty I have absolutely no doubt that the number of deaths would have been much higher.

Theluggage15 · 20/05/2021 09:04

He was one of the people behind the decision to empty his precious NHS of the elderly thus causing the virus to spread like wildfire in care homes and kill so many. When challenged on the decision he said ‘ It is sensible for older, and indeed all patients, to keep hospital stays as short as is medically, or from nursing point of view, sensible." Well not when there’s a pandemic it’s not sensible is it Whitty?

He was dismissive of the care homes who were saying they shouldn’t be taking these patients in. His decision is responsible for many of these deaths and he defended it for ages. Bizarre how people ignore this.

^This a 100%

He also supported an open borders policy, sat back over the lack of PPE in CH's and community care agencies.

Has he ever criticised Johnson?

Knighthood?! Sweet Jesus, if it was up to me he’d be looking at a prison sentence for the damage his arrogance, fearmongering and inability to admit he doesn’t know everything have done. He has so much misery on his hands, I hope it haunts him for the rest of his life. But it won’t, because the only thing more terrifying than a dictator is a dictator who thinks he’s doing it because he cares about people. He doesn’t care about people, he cares about an institution and his own legacy.

NoMLMbots · 20/05/2021 09:32

I agree.

He comes over as a lovely, unassuming man.

Knighthoods are given for various reasons why not for giving great service.

Top bloke. I'd definitely ride him like SeaBiscuit.

That proper made me laugh Grin

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/05/2021 09:57

He has supported the Govt through thick and thin, with zero criticism, despite some very disastrous decisions. You missed quite a lot of the pressers then? He has very visibly, on live telly, voiced his disapproval. It is also published in various freely accessible online places when he has argued with, disagreed with, firmly made his point from a scientific perspective and then accepted with grace that political decisions have differed. He is on record as being critical!

So yes he has done his job the government put him there to do. They were prescient then? Given the timing and all!

Yay a Knighthood beckons! Hopefully!

The poor man- if he comes across this thread he'll be terrified to leave his own house. Grin

Vintagevixen · 20/05/2021 10:06

Disagree strongly that he deserves a knighthood.

As a person that actively participated in the weaponisation of fear to such an extent - no, just no.

The psychological tactics used to terrify a population about a virus with a 0.6 % IFR, the innacuracy of the 4000 graph of doom based on dodgy stats, the over reliance on mathematical modelling.

The trying to terrify us with every variant even after such a successful vaccine program. They've just admitted the Indian variant might not be as transmissible as they thought - so why try and terrify the population until they have proper assessments?

It actually contravenes his hippocratic oath as a doctor IMO - "first do no harm."

He is on my shit list just under Hancock, Boris and Vallance.

scully29 · 20/05/2021 10:06

Totally agree, Chris Witty and JVT and Patrick Vallance should all get a knighthood, they have done amazingly in a very difficult situation. TBH In fact they should get a knighthood purely for having to work alongside Boris.

What in the fuck?!??? You know this is a thread about Chris Whitty, right?

I mean it's hard to know everything about a brand new virus on the block! A dictator, really?HmmConfused

SmallPrawnEnergy · 20/05/2021 10:11

@Brokensharted

Fuck no, he looks like Gollum’s dad.

The sooner we never have to clap eyes on him again the better.

Luckily knighthoods aren’t based on looks you shallow nob.
CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/05/2021 10:14

I hope it haunts him for the rest of his life. Sadly I suspect it will, Because he is a decent human being and is fully aware of the responsibilities of his job.

The rest of that post is ludicrous hyperbole, probably from a very scared and angry person!

LindaEllen · 20/05/2021 10:22

@Blossomtoes

All he’s done is his job.
During a global pandemic, which he almost certainly didn't ever imagine happening when he trained for 'his job'.
Brainwave89 · 20/05/2021 10:40

I agree he should be knighted, he has done a great job under difficult circumstances. As a female forum however I think that Sarah Gilbert who developed the AstraZeneca jab, which will have massive use across the world given it is easier to transport deserves a peerage. A great example of a leading women in science and a great role model for our daughters.

He’s the chief medical officer. A global pandemic has been top of the WHO’s risk list for years, if he didn’t realise it was a very strong possibility he didn’t do much research before he accepted the job. In fact it probably features in the job description.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 20/05/2021 10:48

I think he's a top bloke, but there is something about someone being given a knighthood while all this shit has been going on and people have died that doesn't sit quite right with me?

Blossomtoes · 20/05/2021 10:49

And, yes, there’s no honour too great for Sarah Gilbert. She’s the perfect example of someone who should be recognised with an honour.

Absolutely.
newnortherner111 · 20/05/2021 11:04

He must have the patience of a saint to deal with the Prime Minister. If his views had prevailed thousands fewer would be dead. As for honours, he is not alone in deserving one for work during the pandemic.

It’s a virus that predominantly significantly affects the elderly and frail. Whether they were in hospitals in huge numbers or care homes, the likelyhood is, the outcome would have been very similar.

It’s sad that so many lost their lives but at least within a care home they gave private rooms (in most of them) if they were stuck in hospital then they would be sharing wards so there would be no escape!!

What a nasty bastard you must be to make comments like that?!

I bet you don’t look like Cindy Crawford!!!

Who gives a flying fuck what he looks like? He’s got more brains than the average person and thankfully he’s put them to good use, to help us all.

Unlike you, who has clearly illustrated with your ridiculous comment how ‘thick’ you are!!
