For his dedication to the country for the past 18 months.

I also secretly find him a bit attractive: reckon it’s his humble intelligence

OP posts:
AppleSouffle · 19/05/2021 22:12

Absolutely.

SGS1805 · 19/05/2021 22:13

@Mum2jenny

No, he does not deserve a knighthood. He is doing his job, and imo not very well.
Do you have any qualifications to bolster your opinion? @Mum2jenny

Probs not.

Funny how everyone's an expert isn't it 🤣🤣🤣

lcenii · 19/05/2021 22:14

I'd like a knighthood. Can females be given it?

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 19/05/2021 22:14

He's a legend! And he went to my school! Definitely deserves a knighthood.

Yes.
thefishthatcouldwish · 19/05/2021 22:15

I think he needs one for putting up with blundering Boris.

What aspects of his performance are you unhappy with?
GreyhoundG1rl · 19/05/2021 22:16

@Blossomtoes

All he’s done is his job.
But so many of the flaming bozos haven't, he stands out for this reason alone.
Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 19/05/2021 22:16

I love the Whitster totally deserves a knighthood. Sir Chris Whitty has a nice ring to it!

He’s gone on holiday this week (for the first time in two years) wonder what he’s up to?

picturesandpickles · 19/05/2021 22:18

Hmm, not sure really. We have had such a dreadful pandemic, with so many more deaths than we had to have due to poor decisions, I don't really think honours should be doled out to anyone not frontline.

He'll get one anyway, I don't doubt he's a decent bloke. But should we be giving knighthoods when we badly lost the battle due to poor leadership?

GettingItOutThere · 19/05/2021 22:19

i love him , i agree he should be knighted!

id also marry him Grin

BeenHereForAges · 19/05/2021 22:20

YANBU. I've got a big soft spot for Chris Whitty. Wasnt he back to doing his hospital rounds on Christmas day or something?

hitsvilleuk · 19/05/2021 22:20

I don't think he is the marrying kind.....

Margaritatime · 19/05/2021 22:21

@EgonSpengler2020

A year ago I would have agreed but after the revelations about the government using deliberate psychological tactics to scare the population into compliance I don't think any of them deserve commendation. He is a health professional first and foremost and should be calling out this kinds of unethical practice, which I have no doubt he was aware of.
We are all subject to a wide range of deliberate psychological tactics every day. You would have to be a hermit with no access to tv, radio, internet, newspapers, packaged food etc. to not be subject to adverts, PR, product placements, traffic lights on food, calories and nutrients in food etc.
hitsvilleuk · 19/05/2021 22:21

And yes he did the acute medical on call over Christmas - it was COVID central on admissions

everydayiwritethebook · 19/05/2021 22:22

YANBU. A friend is a professor of immunology and is on the covid advisory committee. She knows him quite well and says he's lovely.

BlowDryRat · 19/05/2021 22:23

The female equivalent of Knight is Dame. I quite fancy being a Baroness.

He wasn't the policy maker though. As he, JVT, Harries et al are at pains to say at every presser. He's doing the science bit. And probably wishes he hadn't got the job two months before a pandemic. I bet he'd like to quit some days, but he won't because it would be irresponsible.
RampantIvy · 19/05/2021 22:37

I don't really think honours should be doled out to anyone not frontline.

But he has worked on the front line as well.

Taliskerskye · 19/05/2021 22:39

They don’t have enough left I’m afraid. They gave the last ones out to Hancock’s mate down the pub and the man who paid for wallpaper

mumwon · 19/05/2021 22:39

no to knighthood for Hancock!
(Unless I was wielding the sword! oops) Grin
Whitty yes & the others - I can imagine they have had to fight against the cretins (politicians & crummy advisors)

Ireolu · 19/05/2021 22:40

He's a nice man, a good clinician and is well respected amongst his colleagues. Don't think he much cares about a knighthood. He prob just wants this nightmare properly over like everyone.

picturesandpickles · 19/05/2021 22:40

He wasn't the policy maker though.

I know, but I think it'd look bad.

He'll get one in the end anyway, but not now imo.

OverByYer · 19/05/2021 22:41

Absolutely yes. He has gone above and beyond with humility.

EvilPea · 19/05/2021 22:43

Abso-bloody-lootly
Him, jvt, valance and harris

I’d love to read their tell all’s as well, I’ve bet they’ve got some stories.
They are pretty much the only people I’ve trusted this pandemic.
