student is forbidden to wear a hat despite suffering hair loss

Is it just me or is this taking uniform rules far too literally?

But that's the point isn't it? They've decided trainers aren't smart enough. Yet that isn't the same in all schools. Some near me accept trainer style plain black shoes, some accept black trainers and some will allow girls black lace up converse and some won't.

But the "smart enough" comment is just personal opinion.

The 2 schools around here who won't allow black lace up converse for girls have the lowest progress 8 and are way below average.

This surely must show that shoes do not equate to good teaching and learning outcomes?

Some of these posters 🤔 we are talking about exceptional circumstances here. Poor girl. I'm glad the school have seen sense at last. Usually I'm the first to argue school rules should be followed but let the child be comfortable whilst she learns! It's an opportunity to teach staff and children about empathy.
