For me it is the habit of drinking out of bottles. Everywhere you go people are swigging out of bottles. Had a bank appointment and even Manager was drinking out of a bottle. Agh I must be getting old. Give me a glass any time.

Any expectation or demand that women in general, or me in particular, should wear high-heeled shoes for a job or occasion. I have co-ordination difficulties which make heels dangerous for me; some other people whom I know can't wear them due to very painful feet. Of course, people should wear them if they want to, but it shouldn't be treated as a requirement.

It's so foreign to me that it's like other people live in another world! I wear Rossis workboots to work. I stopped wearing heels in my late 20s! But I don't work in the corporate world thank God. Even if I did I'd wear brogues!

My hairdresser, when agreeing with me, says '100 per cent' about 20 frigging times a session.
Cannot stand those Facebook posts that say 'if you have got this far, I know who my real friends are, so please copy and paste NOT share' - fuck right off, I am not getting sucked into your crap.
Oh and none of my family seem to be able to spell the word can't. Since when did it have an 'r' in it.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 24/05/2021 04:25

Oh and another one I cannot abide is on cookery shows - 'now let's fry our onions'. WHY - they are not OUR onions, our flour, our anything. Massively irritating.

I cannot stand these either. Emotional blackmail; pretty much the modern version of chain letters; and give people the impression that copying and pasting does something positive in itself for the friendship, or for a good cause (e.g. that copying a post about how 'I hate cancer' will somehow contribute to a cure for cancer!) Also, I suspect that these are originally created and pushed by data-miners, or why would the posts emphasize 'copying and pasting, not sharing'?

SourLemons · 24/05/2021 09:20

Those people that check themselves into a and e on Facebook and then when they get comments asking why it's 'pm hun'

Confused faces and 'shocked' faces at the audacity of all the other people on the school run

LeftyLou · 24/05/2021 14:22

@Chillychangchoo, I don't think I have head that one before., but it definitely could win the award for worst. How awful Envy

@SourLemons yes I agree. I had a fb friend do this all the time. Not always posts about a&e though, just post something negative and then "pm me babe" etc.

Massive televisions on walls. Especially over a mantelpiece.

Ooh so ugly! I live by the beach and a lot of the McMansions around here have tonnes of glass in front and at night, all you can see are these mega tellies. Awful.

I've seen those from some people who I'd never have thought would share such a thing. They must be very insecure really.

White people with dreadlocks, as a white person i cringe with embarrassment

IntermittentParps · 24/05/2021 16:27

Malin52, I'm with you!
'Asdas', 'Lidls' etc makes me feel like growling at people.
I guess with 'Sainsburys' it could logically be a possessive, but 'Asda' and 'Lidl' are not.
'Tescos' at least sounds somewhat passable as a word, whereas 'Asdas' doesn't. Perhaps a phonologist will come along to explain.

Well that's ridiculous. White people have had dreadlocks for centuries because it's what Caucasian hair DOES when it's unbrushed. It's not some fake shit. What do you imagine the early Celts looked like??

There’s always one....Hmm

WilyKitWilyKat · 24/05/2021 16:48

You don’t see it much now but the “If you can’t cope with me at worst, then you don’t deserve me at my best” quote plastered everywhere.

First, Marilyn Monroe never said it.

Second, you’re basically saying you’re a dick, but it’s OK because you’re alright sometimes.

Holly60 · 24/05/2021 16:55

@littlepattilou

When people say 'boobing the baby.' ARGH! Angry

Also hate... Little man. Little Soldier. Little Princess. Holibobs. Sainsbos. Famalam.

On here, I hate 'are you on glue?' 'educate yourself!' And 'you sound unhinged' (Saying that is vile, as it implies the poster is mentally unwell. Nasty.)

There are LOADS more things people say that nark me off. I will probably think of some more later. Or people will mention them here probably.

Oooh, I will also think of things people DO that make me cringe!

Haha yes I agree with ‘boobing the baby’ also ‘little man, little soldier and little princess’ have definitely said holibobs and sainsbos though 😂😂

Exactly 🤣

I’m a dark skinned mixed race woman who has straight highlighted hair. Am I cringe for having a ‘white person’s’ hairdo?

Ddot · 24/05/2021 17:51

I'm a white woman with an afro (almost) it just grows that way, what am I supposed to do.

Hugsgalore · 24/05/2021 17:53

@WarmSausageTea

Sliders. I can’t explain it, but they infuriate me.
Yes!!
TheUnquestionedAnswer · 24/05/2021 23:20

Crocs. Particularly with socks.

bleachblondemom · 24/05/2021 23:38

People referring to moms as ‘mama bears’ and their baby as their cub... I cringe so hard 😂 my friend keeps trying to say it to me and I want to smack her 😂

Ormally · 24/05/2021 23:46

Online unboxing

Sillawithans · 24/05/2021 23:50

People calling other hun. Just fuck off.
If anyone calls me that, I stop them and ask them there and then and ask them not to call me that.

I hate 'mumma'. It's like they're trying to be cutesy American. Actually it's spelled mama and just pronounced mumma. Mumma bear is a common combination!
