For me it is the habit of drinking out of bottles. Everywhere you go people are swigging out of bottles. Had a bank appointment and even Manager was drinking out of a bottle. Agh I must be getting old. Give me a glass any time.

The word ‘delicious’ being used to describe anything other than food or drink.

Sheilasfeels · 18/05/2021 20:58

I add r sounds to words. my accent is a bit wobbly for having Irish, Kentish and Scottish influences. Weirdly I can’t say -all words very well, I end up saying walluh for wall. Back when these were a thing my mum called my cassette player a wallek-man. Life is hard 😂

ServeTheServants · 18/05/2021 21:08

People that write “This one” on social media and then post a photo of their partner

I also cringe when people say “pacific” when they mean “specific”

TinselTinsel · 18/05/2021 21:14

@RoseRedRoseBlue

Also people that pick their teeth, nose or any part of themselves in public. People who break wind publicly and loudly. Anything crass really.
I feel like you know me well lol
Middersweekly · 18/05/2021 21:15

Americanisms said by British people. No. Just no!

ladynyland · 18/05/2021 21:21

Somethink instead of something, worse when written down. Fish N chips .... it’s fish and chips!

Lena18 · 18/05/2021 21:24

Wishing people happy birthday on social media who dont have social media... Checking in on Facebook especially the hospital... Always thought a friend's ex wife was a bit daft had this confirmed when they divorced and he told me she used to be sat in front of the tv checking in places on fb.. Once even checked in at the hospital and when he queried it she said well its only a slight stretch i had an appointment this morning...

Lizzie523 · 18/05/2021 21:29

@diamondpony80 I work with someone who has done this Kardashian thing with their voice. Can't stand her.

kennycat · 18/05/2021 21:36

When people say ‘kiddies’ or ‘sweeties’. When my children want to play in my bed. No! A bed is full of grimness!! Following someone wearing see through leggings and/or badly sloppy fake ugg boots. I cringe a lot!!

Bloodypunkrockers · 18/05/2021 21:37

Yes. Americanisms uttered by non-Americans

Also, a MN one. People referring to themselves in the third person. It's not cute

GloriaSilver · 18/05/2021 21:42

Photos with tongues sticking out always makes me think I hope their breath doesn’t stink even worse when angled towards a face.

Luddite26 · 18/05/2021 21:46

I hate being called Hun and i hate the greeting Hey!. I just ignore any messages that say Hey Hun tbh.

Lapun · 18/05/2021 22:05

Making memories surprised me. My husband often said that when friends enquired why we travelled so much once we retired. For me that is what we did, because unfortunately he died in 2009 and since then I often think of the happy times we had when travelling all over the world.

Maybe when you are as old as me and in similar circumstances you will find those memories you made together very comforting and precious.

amusedtodeath1 · 18/05/2021 22:24

Anything coming out of a persons mouth, spit, vomit, water...I just don't want to see it, especially on TV. We know what someone hanging over the loo is doing, we don't actually have to see the vomit. That bit in Titanic when they're spitting... No James Cameron, No!

MrsPumpkinPie · 18/05/2021 22:31

@RoseRedRoseBlue

People saying ‘baby’ instead of ‘the baby’. Urgh.
Oh yes me too! Has always made me want to scream!!
AgathaAllAlong · 18/05/2021 22:34

Stupid song lyrics. No matter how catchy or good the melody, I just cannot enjoy songs with stupid or inane lyrics.

People's little sayings - my mother has set phrases and little sayings she uses in certain circumstances, or like if you say a certain word she will say the sentence in a set voice, every time. Drives me insane. Sentences might be from old adverts, from famous celebrity interviews or just random nonsense from past acquaintances. Everyone else seems to think it's a fun and eccentric little trait, it makes me want to start screaming.

Of the ones that have been said, people chewing with their mouths open and sneezing really loudly, relieved that mine is not the only DP who infuriates me with this.

I don't get the being annoyed by what people call their babies, what is wrong with 'baby', little man, Babba etc? Is it because you think they should be addressed by their actual names or just a different term of endearment?

Also think that "can I get..." Is fine.

Icantrememberthenameoftheartis · 18/05/2021 22:59

Photos that come with a million hashtags on Facebook! Makingmemories, familytime, familylove, mummylove, specialbond.......

Pals812 · 18/05/2021 23:05

K instead of OK.
This.
Hun.
Best life.
My truth.
Talking loudly on the phone in public. I don't want to hear your conversation thanks.
Facetime in public, even worse!
Showing off.
Being loud.
Attention seeking.

Ddot · 18/05/2021 23:16

People who say, oh I'm so crazy or I'm eccentric well if you think your weird then chances are your not. If it's you it's you and that's just how you feel comfortable so why would you think your weird.

Ladyinthewindow · 18/05/2021 23:18

Cannot stand the word "hun" it makes my skin crawl.

Leaving the greaseproof paper on a freshly opened tub of butter.
Leaving the tea & coffee jars unclipped after using them.
Leaving a loaf of bread on top of the toaster when the bread bin is right next to it.

AlwaysLatte · 18/05/2021 23:22

People who say they're speechless, then make a speech about how they're not normally lost for words, it takes a lot to render them mute, but here they are and blah blah blah. So not speechless after all, then.

disconnected101 · 18/05/2021 23:30

@Fredhere

The word ‘delicious’ being used to describe anything other than food or drink.
The word delicious in any use makes my skin crawl
disconnected101 · 18/05/2021 23:37

Drama.

AlwaysLatte · 18/05/2021 23:37

I cringe when people speak to their offspring overly loudly so everyone else can hear. It makes me feel embarrassed for them
To be fair there are times you have to. My youngest had hearing loss from birth until he was 7 and it was necessary to speak loudly and enunciate clearly.
What I hate the most is parents really nagging and criticising their almost certainly tired and bored kids all round the supermarket. I feel so sorry for them - make it it fun, give them a job to do finding things and they'll be much happier!

nevernotstruggling · 18/05/2021 23:37

Mouth noises of any kind. Eating mostly it drives me nuts I can't stand it.
Nose blowing. Throat cleaning. In fact any more or moth sounds at all give me the rage.
