For me it is the habit of drinking out of bottles. Everywhere you go people are swigging out of bottles. Had a bank appointment and even Manager was drinking out of a bottle. Agh I must be getting old. Give me a glass any time.

Wow Just Wow

Live Laugh Love

People announcing on social media that they`ve had the vaccine, so fucking what?

CallieJones · 18/05/2021 18:44

On a thread where someone quotes someone else to reply to and then you get pages and pages of people reposting the same quote and making the same point again and again and again.

Ideasplease322 · 18/05/2021 18:48

People who sniff. Disgusting.

Bertiebiscuit · 18/05/2021 18:54

Spitting, eating with mouth open, smelly food on public transport hearing other people crunching, calling anyone "babe", slurpy kissing on public transport, couples who must always hold hands,..... I am the most intolerant person

DagenhamRoundhouse · 18/05/2021 18:54

People saying "From the get go! Hideous Americanism. What's wrong with 'the start'?

Nonbio46 · 18/05/2021 18:54

As a happily married ( for 21 years) I really cringe when people plaster ‘date night’ or anniversary/birthday wishes to each other on social media. It really should be called Boastbook. 😏

MintyMabel · 18/05/2021 18:56

Ooh, I have plenty of MN pet peeves, but I’ll stick to a couple.

“I agree with ” which means scrolling back to find out what said.

“Let’s call him....” which generally means it’s a pile of made up poo, but if it isn’t, how hard do people, think it is to keep track of “my friend said this but my other friend did that” I even see ones where they said “let’s call him Bob” but in a single story about a single person and they never called him Bob ever again in the story.

And people who use the quote button to quote the original post. You’re responding to a thread started by that person, why do you think we need to be reminded that is the person you are answering?

winniestone37 · 18/05/2021 19:12

My pet hate is people who go on about their pet hates when they really mean their illogical and nasty snobbery.

whoopsabloominbuttercup · 18/05/2021 19:20

People who call you honey.

Ddot · 18/05/2021 19:21

MPs who say let's be clear, then say anything and everything without saying a bloody thing.
My mam hates dunking, it makes her cringe. I love a dunk mmmm yummy

190190tnt · 18/05/2021 19:21

I hate 'reaching out' ...recently came across old work colleague on line, ( we were at the same seminar)we used to have a laugh together and had a similar sense of humour, but her saying 'thank you for reaching out to me' instead of just 'good to hear from you' nice you contacted me' etc has put me right off....

Vivianebrookskoviak · 18/05/2021 19:25

'Fur Babies' and 'Cat or Dog Mom' or even 'Cat or Dog Dad' ...just ugh. They're your pets, not your biological children.

Facebook posts where you're either attention seeking(I used to know one girl who it was like a constant pity party)or those 'birthday fundraisers' are you doing this out of genuine selfless altruism or for the attention and to get your ego stroked?
Most cases I know of it's the latter. I'll accept that there are people who genuinely do it for the right reasons but those who don't surely outnumber them now.

Junk mail and unsolicited mail. All advertising useless crap and I've vowed never to use any business that uses junk mail. Get enough adverts on TV and online without it being forced into our letterbox.
I would sign up to those services to stop it but I doubt it would work when people can't even read the notice on the letterbox.

Ugh boots. Chris Addison did a stand up comedy routine about them which I totally agree with. Where I used to live with with leggings, vests and waterfall cardigans it was practically a uniform in summer amongst teens and 20 somethings.

'Live Laugh Love' and all those other stupid phrases you get on boards from TK Maxx and cheap home stores..all they need is written in black marker pen 'Citation needed!'

Ddot · 18/05/2021 19:26

Can't spell really struggle, hate when people point it out with sarcasm. Like I don't already know I fluff.

Mylifesadrama · 18/05/2021 19:30

Babies/toddlers older than 1 drinking out of baby bottles, being left with baby bottles hanging from the teat out of their mouths.

Young children walking around with dummies stuck in their mouths, rather than used as a pacifier.

BetterThanKleenex · 18/05/2021 19:41

'Adulting'
'I did a thing'
Sliders
People who are obsessed with their dog/other dogs/pets
People who pretend to have outrageous opinions or side with the unpopular opinion to be 'different'
People who complain about their situation and do nothing to change it.

CowCuddler · 18/05/2021 19:43

So many but the first that come to mind...

Photos with tongues sticking out
Kissing men with beards
Poor spelling and grammar (though would never point out mistakes)
Men dressed up as women in the comedy night out/stag night type fancy dress
Feet, either naked or in socks
Ears and noses

CrankyFrankie · 18/05/2021 20:38

Haha @talesofginza I do that. A colleague told me through gritted teeth to cut the strings, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’m sure my blazer is more flattering tied up like a corset Grin.

Mermaid67 · 18/05/2021 20:38

It really annoys me when people don’t pronounce the t in words, how are children expected to learn to spell when people don’t speak properly?

MuddySocks · 18/05/2021 20:44

@Amdone123

I cringe when my colleague pops a boiled sweet into her mouth seconds before giving me the lowdown on what needs doing. I then have to listen to it being thrown around her gob, colliding with her teeth. The other day I could stand it no longer and said, ' Are you eating a sweet?' 'Yes. Do you want one?' I wish I could be more direct.

😂😂😂

Made me lol
but in reality I'd be furious too...

Hlglu56 · 18/05/2021 20:47

I love accents and different dialects but for some reason it really annoys me that here in Stoke people say ‘I aren’t’ instead of ‘I’m not’. What’s worse is when it’s used in text. I’ve even had a senior manager at work email me back ‘I aren’t sure’.

Lulola · 18/05/2021 20:51

On here when people say:

I couldn’t be annoyed by that

It makes it sound like you are trying to be annoyed, who is trying to be annoyed? You mean you wouldn’t be annoyed by that.

MuddySocks · 18/05/2021 20:51

@littlepattilou

As *@yikes38* said, people who record themselves crying are cringeworthy too, and also, although this makes me sound like a bitch, I cringe when I see people on social media, giving a blow by blow account of their mental health 'journey' and how it's OK to cry, it's OK to break down, it's OK to be weak, and ask for help. And then they go into a massive dialogue about their mental health battle.

It's good that people are more comfortable talking about mental health now, but it seems the world and his wife has a mental health problem (and depression) now.

Agree

I've had serious mental health problems for a long time. The last thing I would do is announce the details of it on Facebook. I very occasionally put up the odd thing for Mental Health Awareness etc, but certainly don't divulge anything personal.
Horses for courses and all that but not for me.

19lottie82 · 18/05/2021 20:52

When I see someone driving about in a very expensive car with a huge yellow Arnold Clark sticker on it……… take it off!

Brought instead of bought.

Attention seekers posting cryptic messages about how they’ve been wronged, on social media.

19lottie82 · 18/05/2021 20:54

The number of supposedly educated adults who don’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re”

Tabitha005 · 18/05/2021 20:58

@MrsJBaptiste

People saying 'bubba' for baby 😒 Hideous.
That and 'little man' - gah! Shoot me now.

Spelling and grammatical errors in business communication drive me nutty - it just looks appallingly sloppy. I had an email the other day where the sender had used 'yourself' repeatedly (as in 'let me know what I can do for yourself').
