Where the washing up goes

I know it may sound ridiculous but this is pretty much the only thing me and DP argue about.

One of us thinks that every thing should stay on the side piled neatly, pans soaking, cutlery in a bowl soaking. The other thinks majority should go in the sink waiting, pans soaking.

Who's right, who's wrong?

We do have a dishwasher, it gets used maybe twice a year. Disagreements haven't quite reached daily use levels yet.

OP posts:
traintraveller · 16/05/2021 18:18

I put them in the sink, I hate dishes being left on the worktop. DP on the other hand hates them being left in the sink.

SummaLuvin · 16/05/2021 18:19

dishwashers are more environmentally friendly due to efficient use of water, and more hygienic due to lack of human error (carelessness) and temperature which might scald our hands.

Shmithecat2 · 16/05/2021 18:20

By the side of the sink. If you leave it in the sink to soak, you just have to empty it all when you wash it up. Or just use the dishwasher fgs.

Do people not realise many many many people don't have a dishwasher?
Do many many people not read the OP properly?

The dishwasher is a dual purpose appliance.

  1. it washes and dries dishes 2)it hides dirty dishes until they are ready to be washed.

The Second function is equally important

redcandlelight · 16/05/2021 18:22

in the dishwasher of course!

just whg would you not use it regularly?

AndroidsAliensAndWizards · 16/05/2021 18:22

My fault. I did the thing I moan about myself and made myself look a tit by missing info in the OP. 🤦🏽‍♀️ apologies

I got to who's right and who's wrong and must have missed the rest.

Of course I do. OP has one though.
PickAChew · 16/05/2021 18:24

Just use the bloody dishwasher.

And unless you've just served dinner and are sitting down to eat, don't leave dirty dishes lying around on the side or on the sink. It's revolting and it's no more work whenever you wash them.

Though, if they're dishwashable, put them in the bloody dishwasher.

skippy67 · 16/05/2021 18:25

Oh, just use the dishwasher ffs!

Meowchickameowmeow · 16/05/2021 18:26

I don't really care as long as it gets done and everything is clean.

GroovyClementine · 16/05/2021 18:26

On the side, waiting to be washed up but pre-rinsed so it doesn't stink the kitchen out. I freaking hate the smell of food mank on plates.

Not in the sink because it's greasy, stinky and gross. Also, what if you want to fill the kettle or get a glass of water and need to run it for a few seconds. Splashing dirty water all over the place.

ifyoulikepinacolada · 16/05/2021 18:26

In the dishwasher for God’s sake. That’s what it’s there for.

funnylittlefloozie · 16/05/2021 18:27

Just use the dishwasher.

EL8888 · 16/05/2021 18:28

Side. Keep the sink clear

weegiepower · 16/05/2021 18:30

I always put it all in the sink and i annoy myself with that!! My sink is on an island though so looks so messy if left next to it

Defiantly41 · 16/05/2021 18:31

In the dishwasher. One of the best things about a dishwasher (besides being more hygienic and cheaper than hand-washing) is it's use as an effective cupboard for dirty dishes

Good on you admitting it! Nice!
Allthereindeersaregirls · 16/05/2021 18:38

In the dishwasher. Why don't you use it?

But failing that. On the side. Sink kept clear.

Kottbullar · 16/05/2021 18:42

One of my pet hates is dishes in the sink. It's so annoying.

Straight in the dishwasher or wash up as you use stuff.

StarlightLady · 16/05/2021 18:42

Straight in the dishwasher.

Alternatively, donate your dishwasher to someone who cannot afford one.

Summerisontheway · 16/05/2021 18:43

@ShirleyPhallus

Why on earth don’t you use the dishwasher?!
This
intheenddoesitreallymatter · 16/05/2021 18:46

On the side. Nothing worse than getting a drink and having to wrestle a glass amongst last night’s spag Bol plates.

Why the hell don’t you use your dishwasher??
