To ask what time you would consider 'about the middle of the day' is?

Context - I am doing a colleague a favour by handing over an item to a friend of hers and acquaintance of mine. Acquaintance lives about 15 minute drive from me, but farther away for colleague.

3 times this week i have texted acquaintance to say I could drop the item off at hers as I would be going past. Each time she has replied to say she could not guarantee to be in. Finally on Friday she said she would pop by and pick it up from me, today. I asked her what time and the response was 'about the middle of the day'. Hmm

Now, admittedly I get up early but I consider 'about the middle of the day' to be between say 11 am and 13.30.

I am getting more annoyed not least because she has turned her fucking phone off and I need to go to the shops which close in 20 minutes.

So, AIBU to ask what time others would consider 'about the middle of the day' to be?

(I am not going to ask AIBU to fuck off out and she can fuck right off? because demonstrably the answer would be no, IANBU).

Anyway, I AM off out now....

Middle of the day for me is 12-2pm ish

DinosaurDiana · 16/05/2021 15:44

12-1pm.
Leave the thing on your front step and go out.

Hankunamatata · 16/05/2021 15:44

12 to 1

3scape · 16/05/2021 15:44

11.30 - 2.30

Snog · 16/05/2021 15:44

12-1

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/05/2021 15:45

Yes, she is at least 3 hours too late for the middle of the day.

Give it back to your colleague and explain that this woman has been weirdly lacking in common courtesy for someone being done a favour by a stranger!

And go out, even if just to be out if/when she finally gets round to bothering.

Snog · 16/05/2021 15:46

Don't wait in for her
Let her make an arrangement at your convenience, she is clearly not going out of her way for this item.

Snog · 16/05/2021 15:46

I agree it's fine to give item back to colleague at this point!

DappledThings · 16/05/2021 15:47

12.30-2

moynomore · 16/05/2021 15:47

Definitely past middle of the day now. 12 to 2 at the latest.

Furball · 16/05/2021 15:47

I'd be handing it right back to your colleague saying all of this and you're really sorry but you can't guarantee you'll be about this week.

newnortherner111 · 16/05/2021 15:48

I agree about the same times as you suggest. Lateness is something I loathe.

Titterofwit · 16/05/2021 15:48

The acquaintance sounds flakey. If she wants the blessed thing she should make more of an effort to get it.
You have done more than your duty and can hand it back to your friend. She can try another way- or not.

Brakebackcyclebot · 16/05/2021 15:48

I would say 12 til 2. Middle of the day is lunchtime surely?

ThatIsMyPotato · 16/05/2021 15:48

11:30-13:30 maybe 11:00 - 14:00 at a push. Not 15:41 that is for sure!

motogogo · 16/05/2021 15:50

Middle of the day, 1-3 I would say, as in middle of the daytime.

Herbie0987 · 16/05/2021 15:53

I would give the item back to your colleague.

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 16/05/2021 15:54

When we were working out equal time on Christmas Day for DS's contact agreement we based it on 12hrs sleeping between 8pm & 8am so the middle of his day would be 2pm & that's the agreed handover time so I'd say anytime between 12-3 but would I fuck be sat in for 3hrs not knowing when she'd be coming - I'd have replied "I need a time because I have things to do so I can't guarantee I'll be here"

ChocOrange1 · 16/05/2021 15:56

12 to 1. Maybe an hour either side if being generous.
I would definitely go out, hopefully she will make a wasted trip and realise how annoying it is.
Or if its not a very valuable item, just leave it on the doorstep for her to collect. Next time you're driving past her house, just leave it outside her house.

MissingTheMoonlight · 16/05/2021 15:58

9 to 5 is working day so middle is 1pm. On weekend I'd say more like 2 or 3pm.

skirk64 · 16/05/2021 15:59

11:30 until 1300.

Docsmix · 16/05/2021 15:59

12-2

GertiMJN · 16/05/2021 16:03

Well midday means "middle of the day" and is 12.00 noon. So I'd be generous and give an hour or 2 maximum leeway. Beyond 3 is taking tge piss

FilledSoda · 16/05/2021 16:10

Between 12 & 1.
She's a CF

Standrewsschool · 16/05/2021 16:12

11.30/12pm-2pm ish.
