To expect delivery people to knock on the door when attempting to deliver a parcel

... not sneak a card through the door and drive off at high speed. I was siting about 2 metres from the door (not facing it). Noone knocked. There were 2 cars sitting outside, windows open upstairs. It looks like someone is in the house.

I heard the letterbox, saw the card, rushed outside waggling frantically. They sped off at high speed.

It was a huge John Lewis order, but delivered by Citylink. I'd paid extra for it to be delivered today, and have waited in all day. Spoke to a very unhelpful woman at Citylink ("its not my problem" she said). JL say it isn't their responsibility.

I am livid!

I live in a (very small -- only 4 flats) block of flats with one common letterbox. It is, apparently, Citylink "policy" not to leave a card where there is a communal letterbox. Which means that if I'm not in (which I'm generally not, being at work and all) I don't even know that they've tried to deliver so that I can rearrange delivery or go and pick the item up.

And no one on the phone appears to think that this is in any way an unreasonable manner in which to run a "delivery" service...
