To think the royal family should end at the queen

I have respect for the Queen’s sense of duty but I do genuinely believe that it’s time for a conversation about the royal family. Honestly, who cares about the coming King Charles- is that really right? People mostly respect the queen but not the rest of them.

I read this article and I was one of those who thought their interview showed up some horrible stuff- there are clearly issues with the royals

Apart from all of the drama, I don’t think that we should be funding a royal family with tax payers money when the country is in such a state & the queen is literally one of the richest women in the world. I know royals in other countries are funded differently. The fact that the tories are mooting the idea of spending millions of public money on a ne boat to remember Prince Philip is a classic example.

@Roussette

Someone suggested on another thread a while back about our country being represented by our Nobel Laureates on a rotational basis. There is all types of specailisms within this system, ranging from Physics, Literature, Chemistry to Economics.

There's plenty of very worthy people who have received a Nobel prize and I think that's a great idea.

Sounds like a universally and infinitely fairer system based on acknowledgement of worthy peer reviewed achievement and expertise to advance and modernise a legacy medieval framework. Leading by example and instilling a system based on merit and achievement open to all rather than coincidence of birth and marriage. Accountability and merit being key. And absence of perverse preaching about mental health or ecology etc from those with all inclusive super deluxe everything paid for by subjects built on colonial loot. Equality, merit, respect and accountability - that’s a new one and how so unroyal!

YANBU -they all need to go.

The monarchy is toxic for UK citizens and toxic for the people born into that family.

Royalists are people who use the RF to feel that they are someone superior to other people in other countries. They love the royals until one of them dares to express an opinion they don’t like.

The toxicity reinforces a class snobbery system in the UK of people looking down on each other.

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

I really don't feel Harry's motivation is to free his dad and brother. There is nothing altruistic in anything he is doing.
I disagree. He’s taken his children out of that toxic situation.
