To suggest you don't buy newborn sized clothes as a gift?

Unless you know the baby actually needs them? I was just clearing out my dds old clothes and found lovely newborn clothes that were never worn. We will donate them of course but it still feels like a waste. DD was born bigger then those clothes so there was no way to use them.

DS was under 7 pounds and had to wear tiny baby for the first couple of months so your point didn't apply to us and won't to many others

I buy about 6-9m and not ultra seasonal. (Good for spring/ autumn, cooler summer days/ can be layered in winter).

If you buy after baby is born, if they're 8lb plus there's no point in buying something with a low chance of use/ short life. If they're 5-6lb, then NB has a use.

DS1 was 8lb 10, long and lean. Never wore newborn.
DS2 was 8lb 6, stockier build. Got 2 weeks out of newborn. Was sorted out easily with a few packs of babygrows from the supermarket. I didn't leave the house for a month (birth injuries) so there was no point in dressing him up.

DS1 was bought a gorgeous velour nb Christmas outfit. He was born too big for it. It was the wrong season/ too warm for DS2 to wear it in that two week window.
It was a waste of something lovely.
