Is Gay kissing, On Emmerdale, before 7.30pm o.k. ?

It's just that Dh & I thought it was a bit 'full on', at that time, and were thankfull that ds was already in bed. Ds is 3.9 and normally goes to bed at around 7pm. But sometimes it is nearer 7.30 and he has seen glimpses of Emmerdale before.
The other night he was already in bed. And I know that gay scenes have been on other soaps in the past. Its just that I thought it was very explicit and I thought it was a bit too much for prime-time pre 7.30pm tv.
Or is that I should just make sure that any child is not exposed to tv at this time.
Did anyone else think it was a bit too much, or was it just me?

Ahh christmas day 7 years after the OP......ideal time to turn up for a bit of gay bashing!

FishWithABicycle · 25/12/2014 19:28

Wow Zacaol you must really have a bee in your bonnet to think this is worth resurrecting a dead thread from 2007 to add your homophobic moan.

Fyi here's the gay agenda in detail.

StrattersThePreciousSnowflake · 25/12/2014 19:29

Oh good grief, 7 year old thread. Really?
And how bigoted.

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 25/12/2014 19:29

I don't get what there is to "explain" to children about homosexuality.

Child asks why two men/women are kissing - answer is because they love each other same as mum and dad/whomever do.

End of story.

MmeMorrible · 25/12/2014 19:29

What a ridiculous OP. It's a total non issue. Two people kissed. So what.

What messages are you giving your DC that they would notice or pass comment that the couple were not man/woman?

PhaedraIsMyName · 25/12/2014 19:31

The post by Zacaol is meant to be a parody isn't it?

I don't watch any soaps but the answer to the question is simply that if the couple involved weren't doing anything which could be shown being done by a heterosexual couple then there's no issue.

I can't honestly remember ever explaining about homosexuality to my son. He knew we had friends who had same sex partners and no more questioned that than he did for our other friends.

PhaedraIsMyName · 25/12/2014 19:32

Oh damn and blast.

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 25/12/2014 19:33

Damn it.

MammaTJ · 25/12/2014 19:41

It wouldn't even be worthy of a conversation in our house. DCs are 8 and 9 and know that men and men can love each other and ladies and ladies can love each other in just the same way that men and ladies can love each other!

Themindboggles2014 · 25/12/2014 19:53

If this isn't some type of pathetic joke, yes you abvvvvvu. Totally bloody ridiculous.

HermioneWeasley · 25/12/2014 19:55

My gay agenda today:

Watch kids open stocking
Get Turkey out of fridge and prep it
Make breakfast
Watch kids open presents
Speak to parents on the phone
Cook veg
Yell at kids for leaving new toys all over the floor
Clean up
Assemble dessert
Bath the kids and put them to bed
Watch Miranda

Shocking stuff chez Hermione, I tell you.

Apologies, I had no idea it was a zombie thread.

HellBoundNothingFound · 25/12/2014 19:59

Christ on a bike, this thread is older than my daughter...

I love a good gay agenda

7 year old zombie thread Xmas Grin

Fucking hell, have you had such a shite day you had to trawl mnet for this?, idiot!

WoolyBoots · 25/12/2014 20:16

My DC's see their parents "gay kissing" daily. Should I not let them watch TV programmes that feature "straight kissing" I wonder?

giraffesCantFlyWithReindeer · 25/12/2014 20:16

Well hopefully opinions have improved form then.

BathshebaDarkstone · 25/12/2014 20:18

If it was full-on straight kissing, would that be ok? Hmm

organiccarrotcake · 25/12/2014 20:21

If your child is gay, or somewhere else on the spectrum between straight and gay, they will appreciate that most people now recognise the "normality" of gay kissing, and don't bother posting about it on MN.

organiccarrotcake · 25/12/2014 20:22

Oops sorry, didn't realise it was a zombie :(

BathshebaDarkstone · 25/12/2014 20:54

Blimey I didn't know this was a zombie thread either, I only joined this August. Xmas Blush

Madamecastafiore · 25/12/2014 21:02

Oh FFS.

You just say that sometimes ladies like ladies and men like men when little ones ask about homosexuality.

meltedmonterayjack · 25/12/2014 21:05

Gay kissing is no more inappropriate than any other kissing. What is inappropriate imo, are the content of all of the soaps for young children. The stuff they cover - murder, adultery, vengeance, violence, sex, emotional abuse, arson and the rest of the 101 things they deal with, are not what I'd want my child to be watching. The world will be queuing up to stand on their little fingers soon enough, without exposing them to the harsh realities and extreme situations of life.
