What's your Resting Heart Rate?

To fitbit and garmin users,
Can I ask what your average resting heart rate Is?
Also age and level of fitness would be helpful.

My average resting heart rate shows as 52 and I am wondering if it's worth bothering a doctor about. It's supposed to be 60 apparently.
I'm female, in my 50s and I take 75 levothyroxine for hypothyroidism.
I'm average weight and very fit and active for my age.
I posted in AIBU for traffic
(If there are any GPs reading this, would you be concerned?)

I mean this kindly, I think you are obsessing over it. 50-58 on the sofa is nothing. My resting heart rate is usually around 55 as a weekly average. I’m in my 30s, normal BMI and exercise 3-4 times a week. However, it rises to 190ish when I run. Wrist based heart rate monitors are notoriously inaccurate, so while good for a rough idea, I wouldn’t put too much stock in that unless there are other things bothering you as well.

Early 30’s. Resting HR in the low 50s. When racing my bike I can just nick over 200 max HR in a final sprint/maximal effort but it comes down quickly/reacts quickly to varied effort levels so not worried by either end of the spectrum! Watches are less accurate/reliable than chest straps. My Apple Watch is not as quick to react to changes as my proper HR strap is during exercise so I assume it’s only a guideline to your resting HR anyway, but is good to see trends. My resting HR increased for a few days after my covid jab for example and the watch was accurate enough to see that variation.

I wonder how accurate some of these watches are.
In my 20’s when I was as fit as an olympic athlete resting was 50 and sleeping 38-40.
Now in my 50’s Its now more like 65-75 (manual testing)

But then in those days could run 5 miles in 40 minutes without my heart rate going above 85

Blood pressure has always been around 100/65

I thought it was quite low. 58? But I would consider myself pretty physically fit. I run about 24 miles a week and go to the gym.

Mines about 40. I’m late 50s, reasonably fit(but not super fit). I take levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. I did mention it to the practice nurse when I was seeing her about something else and she wasn’t at all worried about it

Mine is 79. I am pretty fit but I'm also pretty stressed right now, I never feel relaxed right now really

I'm 49 and mine is low 60s. I get plenty of exercise.

My resting heart rate is around 78. I'm late 40s, have become very unfit and put on weight due to lockdown etc (am 5'4" and now 128lb) am turning over a new leaf and determined to get fit again.

According to my Garmin tracker, resting heart rate is 42...max is 176.
I'm 46yrs, sport specific fit and in the 'healthy BMI' category.

In the last four weeks my average resting heart rate was 48, early 30s and fit. Lots of running, cycling, walking, weights, Pilates etc

Garmin says average on 51 over the week. It was 55 when I first looked but has gone up to 80 now, maybe because I’m using my watch arm to type. Max today was 116 this morning when I was running.

I’m 49, healthy BMI, and pretty fit. Run 3 times a week and yoga 4/5 times.

I’m pretty sure that when I did my nurse training many years ago anything under 60 was investigated, unless you were a super fit athlete.
Things do change in medicine, but it would do no harm to ask the practice nurse.
If your heart rate is too low you can be at risk of clots.

Mine’s usually in the low 50s resting, it does though soar high easily in exercise- but then drops down after pretty fast again. Just presumed it was a good sign. I also have quite low blood pressure. I’d say I’m got and active in an average way, I’m not a runner or anything but I’m a healthy weight and I can easily ride a bike for miles etc or climb cliff steps quickly.

Over lockdown I've not been to the gym and it's crept up from 60-69 Shock I'm late forties and have also put on two stone this year Sad

It’s usually more like 65 at doctors checks as I’ve just walked in/ moved. 50ish is proper sleepy and not moving though. I don’t have a watch to track it all the time.

I find alcohol really puts my heart rate up, and underrating putts it right down- I can force it down to 55 for comedy effect on my fit bit app when I show DH the graph he thinks I'm about to drop dead Grin

I’m nearer 50 than 40 years old. RHR is between 48-58. Bmi says obese and while my fitness is improving, I’m still very unfit.

I think anything between is 60-100 is normal.

There are quite a lot of low readings on this thread, does it decrease with age?

I'm in the mid 60s & am in my 30s, docs never commented except on my blood pressure which is very good apparently.

Mine is somewhere between late 50s and early 60s, iwatch is currently saying 60 for resting rate. I am 51 and not very fit.
