dc1 is the spitting image of fil and dc2 is the spitting image of mil. I hate it and feel really down about as I don't get on with them (the ils, not kids).
Why has fate been so mean?

(I know I'm stupid to think like this, hence name change, but I've only recently given birth and have just realised who dc2 looks like and am hormonal argh!)

I am with you and totally understand. I hate the fact that everything my children like and are in to is becasue MIL was like that as a child. There is no discussion as to whether I liked the same things.

Congrats on the baby.

ssd · 13/11/2007 17:26

congrats!

they will both change facially as they get older, trust me!

Weegle · 13/11/2007 17:28

ah, if you have only recently given birth you can bet your bottom dollar DC2 will not look like your MIL soon. Newborns are supposed to look like dad's side so dad stays around, but in a year or two they may look just like you.

Congrats by the way

LoveAngelGabriel · 13/11/2007 17:28

Supressing giggles, here, sorry!

I looked exactly like one of my (not very attractive) uncles when I was born. Happily, I don't anymore . Don't fret. Children change so much

UtterPrat · 13/11/2007 17:29

Ah thanks for understanding. Poor you too.

People keep telling me that babies change etc. God, I am so hopeful for dc2!

As long as they don't behave like ILs I can stand it. Dd image of MIL who is hell in snakeskin but very pretty.

EricL · 13/11/2007 17:46

Yeah - my youngest looks like my FIL and my oldest looks like me so i guess i can't complain at the 50/50 thing i suppose.

bubblagirl · 13/11/2007 17:48

children grow up and change keep hol;d of that thought lol my ds looked just like my dp when born all kids take after my dads side of family so we were chuffed lol

now that bit older looks just like me but i'm sure another phase will come and he'll look just like my dp again

even though you dont get on with in laws they gave you a wonderful dp who in turn has given you wonderful dc so look at them being like him not them xx

LilianGish · 13/11/2007 17:51

Lol at name change! My mil insists both dcs look like her side of family even though they are the image of my brother's children (people always think they are brothers and sisters). Are you sure there is a resemblence? Btw - of course yanbu!

OverMyDeadBody · 13/11/2007 17:55

Thank goodness my ex ILs adopted my ex and there is no way DS will ever resemble them in any way whatsoever
