To wish that there was a smoking weed that didn't smell

TheHateIsNotGood · 21/04/2021 00:02

Just that really, I like a spliff now and then but don't like smoking it in a cupboard nor outside and bothering my neighbours.

YANBU - given all the efforts put into growing weed, it's not much to ask for a non-smelly type.

YABU - for whatever reason.

Could say the same for people who need a coffee or cup of tea everyday to be honest

Last time I checked coffee and tea were not intoxicating and don’t impair your ability to drive. Silly comparison.

EdgeOfACoin · 21/04/2021 10:55

Wouldn't that depend on a definition of pain? In my experience (and that of friends I've lost to suicide and other ways to self-destruct) pain isn't just physical. Use your imagination and some empathy hmm

No, sorry. The majority of teenage and 20-something weed smokers I have met in life want to get high, not for any other reason. Some may use drugs as an escape from emotional pain.

In that case, seeing a qualified counsellor would be far better for them than getting stoned, which is probably not having a net positive effect on their mental health.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 21/04/2021 14:58

I think it's criminal that our government's Puritan ideals ensure that those with chronic pain either suffer or become dependent on hard core medications.

Did you catch 'GPs Behind Closed Doors' last night? GP had a patient come in, elderly Asian man, using a stick to walk, coming to see him after going to the 'pain clinic'. The GP admitted the man has severe osteoarthitis in his spine and knees. The man was nearly in tears just moving into the office.

Gave him anti-depressants.

Because those aren't addictive, apparently.

The way chronic pain is so-called treated in the UK is fucking barbaric.

theemmadilemma · 21/04/2021 15:25

The UK needs to legalise cannabis and and get on board with all the positive things that brings. Income, taking away money from crime etc.

It's laughable people thinking all stoners are degenerate youths. Do you people not realise your Doctor, your Solicitor, your hairdresser, that Managing Director you know and so on, many are all stoners too. There's plenty of my generation who still smoke regularly and are far from children any longer. Most of us try to avoid the usual dealer on a corner scenario but it would be much nicer to buy openly and legally.

I know at least 2 coppers who liked a smoke.

mdinbc · 21/04/2021 18:35

I agree the pot now is especially strong smelling. It is legal here, and while I do not partake, other members of my family do, and may have a puff in the back yard while visiting. I definitely am not fond of the smell.

Yes you would think with all the variants being grown, they could come up with a non-smelly one.

Tabooandlemonade · 21/04/2021 18:40

@SinkGirl there are legal medical cannabis clinics operating in the UK now - you can have it prescribed for a range of conditions. It’s not NHS so you have to pay for private consultations & prescriptions but you can get reduced prescriptions through Project Twenty21. There are thousands of patients in the UK getting legal cannabis from specialist doctors.

wusbanker · 21/04/2021 18:48

@Bearclaw

The best way to avoid the smell is to comply with the law and not take illegal drugs.
Being gay used to be illegal too.
WarwickHunt · 21/04/2021 18:55

@Somanysocks

This always becomes whataboutery by the stoners.
Ohhh, the unintentional irony! Grin

OP - Is there weed that doesn't smell?

First reply - Never mind that, what about the fact that I think you should be using it?

MissConductUS · 21/04/2021 19:01

Make your own infusion oil. It's very simple.

Somanysocks · 21/04/2021 19:05

No irony m'dear, intentional or otherwise, it's an observation over time.

My point is that it wasn't stoners who attempted the derail the thread at the first set of points with whataboutery!
Stonecity · 21/04/2021 20:59

Sorry in advance for turning the thread into a pity party! I am in constant severe pain that's had me contemplating what a relief death must be several times. I have a pain disorder, a connective tissue disease and a neurological disorder - all incurable. I am not a suicide risk for various reasons so no one needs to worry.

However, I cannot start my day without numerous strong medications (a couple of which are classed as controlled drugs). I'm on a full dose of serious opiates among many other meds.
I'm past the point of caring about how rude this is, but I will laugh directly in the face of the next person who tells me that counselling could help in any way. My entire body feels like it's on fire, I am exhausted, I get paralysis with no warning, I have to reset my own dislocated joints because it happens so often. If you think a non-medicated approach and therapy helps then I'm glad for you, because it means you've zero life experience of what chronic pain and fatigue does to a person mentally and physically. Trying weed is my next plan and I'm hopeful that it'll work (at least a little bit for a short while).

I have 2 degrees, I am holding down a professional job supporting vulnerable people, I pay my mortage on my own and all that BS folk think is the measure of a decent person. So crack on with the judgement of me, and other people, who use "mind altering substances".

If you don't like it, go buy a secluded house in the countryside and perhaps you won't be burdened with scummy neighbours to look down your noses at.

zombielady · 21/04/2021 21:29

Hope it helps @Stonecity

A distillate pen doesn’t smell. Nor do edibles. I prefer edibles.

Marijuana can cause brain damage, lowered motivation, irrational rage, early psychosis, and lower IQ if taken frequently or while underage. It is not a benign drug.

Ericaequites, I can agree with you. Cannabis or CBD oil definitely should be taken only after prescription is taken, and it shouldn't be consumed for a long periods of time, cause it can cause harm to your health, more than medical treatment.

Thanks whoever bumped this thread. I've just ordered the herb burner pp mentioned in a first reply. Can't wait to give it a go on Wednesday!

Sorry for jumping on a zombie thread. But how do you go about buying it? Can you buy it online?

ChaneySays · 04/09/2021 20:52

@TheHateIsNotGood

hirples any direction you can point me to please? I got a Snoop Dog a few years ago but it was just a mini-cooker in a vape tube - put me right off and it's been yer old fashioned spliff since.
That wasn't a proper vape pen, just a coil in it so effectively an electric pipe. You want one that uses convection (hot air) not combustion.

My mate has a Crater which was under £100 but a few years back so maybe better ones now. I think the Boundless something is a cheap good one. Just google it.

Doh, I just replied to a zombie post.

I haven't smoked it in years but I still have a lot of mates from my days of working in IT who smoke it - funniest thing is that most of them were from a company that analysed data for the police. 😂

My mates just buy it off people they know, one of whom used to grow a fair bit out in the country. However, I believe that the youth are now buying it from Instagram.
