To wish that there was a smoking weed that didn't smell

Just that really, I like a spliff now and then but don't like smoking it in a cupboard nor outside and bothering my neighbours.

YANBU - given all the efforts put into growing weed, it's not much to ask for a non-smelly type.

YABU - for whatever reason.

It’s so frustrating that it’s not legal here for medical reasons. I’m on morphine and have been for years - would like to try marijuana instead but haven’t smoked any since my 20s and wouldn’t have a clue where to get hold of any. Have tried CBD oil but did nothing for me.

😂😂😂

Thanks for the laughs! I need them this morning.

My sister lives in a legal US state. She has lupus and has been able to come off A LOT of her drugs, which gave her terrible side effects. She feels so much better. She's in a professional job, too, having to do it on prescription drugs just to function. And yes, CBD oil did FA for me, too.
Herja · 21/04/2021 08:20

Eat it. Make cannabis butter and use it in whatever you feel like - can make sandwiches, add to pasta, anything you like. Or vape, my friend vapes and there is very little smell at all.

paralysedbyinertia · 21/04/2021 08:20

Yanbu. I don't smoke weed, but I do have to suffer the smell from other people smoking it, and it's truly vile. It makes me feel so sick.

It would be even better if they could develop weed that not only didn't smell, but also didn't mess with people's mental health, but maybe that's too much to ask...

Do you ever eat chocolate? Sugar? Consume caffeine?

EdgeOfACoin · 21/04/2021 08:35

I currently live next door to three 20-somethings who are nice but who smoke weed constantly. It's horrible. If I have my window open, the smell gets in. I'm working from home and so are they (apparently they work in customer service Hmm)

My husband walked past the window of their house yesterday and said the whole place reeked.

It's a horrible, antisocial habit. I wouldn't care if they sat out in their garden and drank a coffee, tea or ate something sugary. I wouldn't care if they had a beer or glass of wine - doesn't affect me at all.

But I can't stand the smell of weed and hate having to close my windows all the time.

And yeah, I do think it's pretty immature to smoke your way through the working day. I'm sure a lot of people do use cannabis to manage chronic pain, but you're not going to convince me that the majority of 20-something flatsharers who smoke weed do so for its pain-relieving purposes.

You know tea and coffee are mind altering drugs too, right?

HorridHamble · 21/04/2021 09:20

Buy a dry herb vape from Amazon. No smoke, vapour dissipates quickly, maximum effect and value for money.

apric0t · 21/04/2021 09:27

Get a magic flight box vaporiser!

M0rT · 21/04/2021 09:30

@SinkGirl do you know anyone in Canada or one of the legal US states?
My friend has terminal cancer and gets gummies sent from Canada so she doesn't have to take too much morphine. It gives her a much better quality of life and keeps her liver healthy enough to keep getting the chemo that is keeping her alive!
I really wish we could go that way here, I'm in Ireland.
So many people with chronic/terminal conditions on morphine which also gets you stoned and damages your liver at the same time!
OP, can you get hash where you are? Much more pleasant smell.

TitOverArse · 21/04/2021 09:33

Lolling at the idea of someone getting high off a neighbours second hand smoke. It’s not a nice smell but you’re not going to get high off it ffs.

LST · 21/04/2021 09:36

@emilyfrost who spat in your cereal?

murbblurb · 21/04/2021 09:40

It should indeed be legalized and prescribed for medical need. Recreational smokers support gang violence, cuckooing, county lines and knife crime. Think about it when you next mush your brain.

It should be entirely legalised. It works very well in places where it is. It's no more 'mushing your brain' than a few pints or glasses of wine.
daisyjgrey · 21/04/2021 09:49

I quite like the smell, but I'm not brave enough to smoke it. Come and be my neighbour and please yourself 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lubiluxe · 21/04/2021 09:51

Of course it is!!!

toocold54 · 21/04/2021 09:58

I have been in cars where three other people have been smoking and never a hint of any effect on me

I used to smoke a lot when I was younger but it did mess up my mental health so I quit but I know the effects and I can definitely feel the effects if I’m in an enclosed room with someone, obviously not as much as if I were smoking it to myself.
I guess it’s just like second hand cigarette smoke.

I actually really like the smell but it sticks to fabrics and so if my washing is out and my neighbours are smoking it can stick to my DDs clothes and then I worry about her teachers thinking I’m smoking around her.

LagunaBubbles · 21/04/2021 10:00

Lol weed is not illegal anymore!

It is in the UK. Obviously it isnt illegal where you are but why assume everywhere is the same?

Sadly no. And I wouldn’t want to risk any legal trouble either. We also have a disability social worker for our children so the last thing I need is any involvement with illegal drugs.

When my mum had terminal cancer she managed to get hold of some very powerful whole plant cannabis oil through some connections - helped her a lot more than the painkillers. It’s so wrong that people have to sneak around and risk legal issues and support the illegal drug trade just to get adequate relief. My mum was very anti drug so it was morally difficult for her too.

Morphine doesn’t make me stoned at all, no effects like that at all any more. Frankly when the pain is terrible, being stoned would be a good idea. Nearly went to A&E this morning due to unmanageable pain. Very frustrating that this could help and I can’t access it. I just don’t move in circles where people smoke it any more, I wouldn’t know how to get hold of drugs if I tried - back in my 20s this wasn’t a problem 😬

Somanysocks · 21/04/2021 10:18

This always becomes whataboutery by the stoners.

I think it's criminal that our government's Puritan ideals ensure that those with chronic pain either suffer or become dependent on hard core medications.

Especially given that the UK is the biggest exporter of legal marijuana in the world... 😒

angieloumc · 21/04/2021 10:28

skirk64 yes here I am sat with my cup of tea having my mind altered 😂
I do think it should be legalised for medical reasons but then how do you sort out the wheat from the chaff? People will be saying they need it for a medical reason when they don't.

Giggorata · 21/04/2021 10:36

Agree about the horrible smell. I wonder if it has been genetically modified, as well as the stronger smellier strains being bred. I believe that the higher THC content has contributed to the mental health issues observed in some users in recent years. It doesn't suit everybody, after all, it is still a hallucinogen.
In the olden days, I used to enjoy some Lebanese Gold, which actually smelled nice.

People who are very anti smoking cannabis should consider that it has been used for centuries in other cultures without the chaos, cost, bad health and violence associated with alcohol use.

Wouldn't that depend on a definition of pain? In my experience (and that of friends I've lost to suicide and other ways to self-destruct) pain isn't just physical. Use your imagination and some empathy Hmm
