TikTok R*pe Situation

TW: Rape/Sexual Assult

Sadly a group of trolls on TikTok have made this consistent joke about April 24th becoming 'National Rape Day". It is unclear what their intentions with this joke are, however, please be careful on social media that day and be aware of this sick joke.

Here is an article on the situation: www.distractify.com/p/april-24th-tiktok

Please be sure that any young people you know who use tiktok know to report and block anything promoting this behavior. Stay safe.

Sorry to older sm users here😳

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/04/2021 11:47

Just to know this has drawn your attention so if your child or any children you work around discuss this you are able to intervene and educate them.
If children around someone discuss rape, anyone woth half brain would intervene whether it's tiktok stuff or notConfused

Stop. Giving. These. Things. Exposure.

Just to know this has drawn your attention so if your child or any children you work around discuss this you are able to intervene and educate them. Or for facilitators to see if these issues can be included in their work to help tackle this. Not just this on it's own but the whole nature and education needed especially for boys around rape and sexual assult.

Everyone already knows this about such things. What is best is not to give this kind of stuff more publicity, because the people who make it thrive off any kind of attention.

I would politely have to disagree but thank you for your input.

This is like on twitter
"Why is #horriblehashtag trneding wtf?"

Because y'all are asking about it! Literary no other tweets are to be found. Someone spotted 1 tweet with it, then it snowballed. Et voilà. Shitload if oress for nothing

Bluebird2021 · 19/04/2021 12:20

You can get to fuck with your comment about it being ‘a key educational point’ to make with young boys

Yeah let’s single them out and berate them.

They aren’t the problem

Just makes it easier for idiots to get the Internet fame they crave, just post something controversial and offensive, make sure it ends up in front of the outrage tweeters and they'll do the rest of the work themselves.
GrumpyTerrier · 19/04/2021 12:34

OP is just giving a heads-up. These things are likely to pop up on your kids' social media and be upsetting/generate questions. Forwarned is forearmed. Cheers OP.

@mooonstone

This is why (some) old people shouldn’t use social media
How old do you think the OP is?
PhatPhanny · 19/04/2021 12:46

My DS likes to go on tiktok to watch videos on my account, so on the 24th I'll not let him, so I appreciate you sharing.

ASugarr · 19/04/2021 12:47

I don't understand why that matters.

Absolutely right!! It is all imaginary - no teenager would seriously think that there is a national day for that.
Just like "Slap A Ginger Day" - fake news!!

Cushionsnotpillows · 19/04/2021 13:06

I'm the mum of a teen boy and I find it offensive you think most young boys are (a) stupid enough to be taken in by shite like this in any way or give it any credence and (b) potentially act on it.

He is fully aware of consent, acts respectfully around his female peers and can spot attention seeking vacuous trolls on SM a lot better than you OP.

Stop giving these incel idiots any oxygen.

Kinda angry with myself for even posting on this thread and bumping it again, but I couldn't let the comment about boys pass. I'm never a NAMALT poster at all and would consider myself a feminist, and have raised my son to value all humans as unique and worthy. But I will not let you go tarring ALL young men as "potential rapists". What a biased negative to place on young, forward thinking, often kind and caring shoulders.

Okay well I hope he is understanding and aware. Many boys and men aren't which is why jokes like these go around. We have to educate men which includes young men.

Given your determination to deny what a man is in recent discussions, this call for blanket education of adult human males is surprising.

SavingsQuestions · 19/04/2021 17:57

Our (girls) school has sent an email about this and said for any girls concerned to mention it. There have been local reports of boys (probably all hot air to be fair) around this which apparently has frightened younger girls. My daughter hadn't heard of it but it has helped to make her aware so she can go "oh yeah another sick viral trend" rather than be scared.

Don't know how discussing a genuine concern about this joke around rape after the serious nature of sexual assault and awareness we are trying to bring is "winding people up".

You were certainly winding people up last night, by starting a thread about how trans women should be allowed to compete with women and girls on equal terms, and how it was unfair to them not to be allowed. You simply kept stating the same thing over and over again, without any attempt at justification or reasoning.

I don't know whether its deliberate or not, but there seems to be an empathy chip lacking, possibly one which had been replaced by a desire to play either the police or god.

Okay cool if that's what you think then sure. However I don't really joke around when it comes to serious topics like rape and children's rights.
