To think that PLAYBOY items aimed at young girls should be banned

My DD is off school poorly and she is in the process of writing her Christmas list to Santa.
Amongst other things she has asked for "PLAYBOY STUFF" such as bag, pens, pencils, hair bobbles etc. All she sees is a nice pink rabbit stamped on everything and thinks they are cute and all I associate the trademark with, is nude big bossomed girls am I the only one that thinks they should be banned!!!

She is only 8.
I have thought about trying to explain but don't know how to.
How do you explain dirty mags, mansions full of nude women and hugh hefner to a child!!!!
All she sees is a pink bunny which without the association, is very cute!!

Either way only stupid people will buy them for younger kids so maybe santa could write her a letter saying that he doesn't think they are suitable for her until she is older.

Personally I don't think they are appropriate until at least 16 but I'm old fashioned. I mean honestly who aspires to have to wag their stuck on fluffy tail at the opposite sex as a career option ?

I think all Playboy stuff is horrid TBH, I agree to a 8yo girl it looks like a cute pink rabbit though.

I think it's insidious that the logo is marketed to make Playboy bunny and all that it represents acceptable.

We were once standing at a bus stop and a girl walked past with the bunny logo on her bag. my DD shouted ooh I love the playboy bunny. I was mortified as there was a bit of a queue. God knows what the other adults thought!!!
I just wish they would ban the bloody things, some of her friends have some of the items so she would like them as well.

I find this whole marketing of the logo to little girls pretty sinister tbh. It's almost like if it insinuates itself into our childrens' consciousness on everyday items from an early age that they will not grow up to question it.

I've had conversations with parents who find it "cute" and describe some of the items being sold to children as "tasteful"

I just can't get my head around the fact that people will let their little girls go around wearing the logo of a porn empire and think it's OK

How would she feel about Hello Kitty or similar as an alternative? Equally pink but no porn connections that I know of.

I agree that things like this should be age limited. I don't think it is suitable for young girls. I am so glad I have boys (although I guess there are different issues to worry about).

This really annoys me and I'm furious that our local WH Smith sells the pencil cases, etc. I haven't built up the energy to complain. But when I'm feeling hormonal I may just. It's so inappropriate.

My friends and I rant for England about this topic and music videos also fit into this category.
Do not get me started with the Pussycat Dolls - "Don't you wish you're girlfriend was hot like me" gyrating around with nowt on, rubbing themselves against very eager men and the lyrics to the song!!! well it's just wrong isn't it. especially when these vids are shown during the day and my 8 year old then starts singing!!!! I frantically run around looking for the remote.

My DS has a t-shirt from a company called "no added sugar" which has a bunny as a logo and someone I know commented that it looked like a playboy bunny! Seriously I would dress my two year old in a porn baron's merchandice? Ha ha

One of the PhD students in my old department had a play boy bunny purse, I can only assume it was in an ironic way but I wouldn't part with cash for any of that crap
