I don’t think dementia or some cancers have any regard to wealth and privilege

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 19:59

Imagining Margaret as Queen is a bit like imagining Boris as Prime Minister.

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:04

The queen fully believes that she is annointed by God as the Head of Church of England. Now if I was that delusional, I might take my role very seriously too!

Sausageroll67 · 17/04/2021 20:19

Ugh typical “trying to be edgy” MN responses here. I gave the guy a minutes silence today for his service to our country, the DOE award scheme, his great work. Also in respect of our Queen.

cateycloggs · 17/04/2021 20:19

Ha ha, that is so funny, isthereaduck. Be careful what you imagine.

Vicliz24 · 17/04/2021 20:20

Well I definitely gave him a minute of my time . He gave way more than that in service to this country.

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:25

@Vicliz24

The only service I can think of is that akin to a sire bull. He has managed to serve queen and country in that respect. Did he fight in wars or something?
ineedaholidaynow · 17/04/2021 20:28

Yes he did @Isthereaduckinthehouse

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:29

William and Harry probably get their height from him and Diana. The other male cousin is tall too, is that Andrew's son? Eugenie and Beatrice are not terribly tall I don't think? Don't think Fergie was tall though and they certainly appear to have her looks. Does Anne have children? Is that the very goodlooking blond lady perhaps?

ineedaholidaynow · 17/04/2021 20:29

Mentioned in despatches too

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:30

@ineedaholidaynow

Yes he did *@Isthereaduckinthehouse*
Oh well, I'm sure he loved poppy day then.
BadMudda · 17/04/2021 20:30

Absolutely we did, yes.

HectorHalloumi · 17/04/2021 20:30

Did he fight in wars or something?

🤦‍♀️

BadMudda · 17/04/2021 20:31

What a nasty thread 😲

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:33

They have a strange combination of noses (the queen, margaret and the queen's children, hooked noses). Prince Philip was a very goodlooking chap and an almost identical but blond version of Harry. The hooped nose seems to have been bred out in the grandchildren. Diana had beauty. Kate and Meghan are the same, both very beautiful with good genes.

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:35

I can never remember the name of the sons of the Queen. Charles obviously. Andrew. Is he the harvy wankstain fella? And there's another guy who I can't remember!

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:37

Sophie Countess of Wessex. Is she an inlaw or a grandchild of the queen?

CounsellorTroi · 17/04/2021 20:37

@OwlBeThere

The queen Chooses to still work at 94. No ones making her.
I think abdication is unthinkable to her because of Edward VIII. But it would be completely different in her case, she has an heir, and he has an heir. It wouldn't cause a constitutional crisis if she abdicated.
PrelovedWithValue · 17/04/2021 20:39

@seashells11 please don't attribute that quote to me, I'm with you on this!

PrelovedWithValue · 17/04/2021 20:39

In-law. She's married to the son you can't remember. (Edward)

Nothing 'edgy' about not being a Royalist. Why do some people try to dismiss a perfectly valid point of view with such ill-though-out criticisms?

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:43

I think the Queen fully believes that she is in fact annointed by God which is why she will endure until the end Shock She doesn't believe that it's a job from which one might retire!
I wonder whether she got to have real fun and let her hair down behind closed doors with Philip? They were chalk and cheese and I think that he may have been the playful influence that she needed to relieve her of what must be an awful weight of duty. I'd say they had a lot of fun at Balmoral which to me appears to be where they seemed most at home. I suspect it was like most marriages, not one without infidelity and not one without its struggles. Had she been on MN 50 years ago, she'd probably have been advised to LTB.

CathyorClaire · 17/04/2021 20:43

Well David Armstrong Jones the Second Earl of Snowdon would be the king by now. It's not the most horrific prospect.

The David Armstrong Jones who borrowed from his company running up millions in debt and resolving it by selling his controlling shares?

The one who flogged the beloved Caribbean retreat gifted him by his mother (to avoid inheritance duties) during her lifetime even though she hoped she'd still be able to visit?

Arf.

Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:45

@ineedaholidaynow

Mentioned in despatches too
What does that mean?
Isthereaduckinthehouse · 17/04/2021 20:47

PrelovedWithValue Thanks. I get confused with them all. So Sophie would have been Phillip's DIL? I guess it's those who have little blonde girls? Or is there a generation after them?
