If I walked into your office carrying this bag

What would your first thought be? Too loud? Too big? Great bag to fit everything in?

No one would care

Spasiba · 16/04/2021 23:16

Is this an advertisement?

GinAndTonicOnIt · 16/04/2021 23:17

Ps ignore all the over the top angry replies. People are probably just jealous you can afford to spend this much on a bag and they have zero desire to hide it!

If you can comfortably pay that much and you like it, I say go for it! I now really want the bag myself Grin

catherineofarrogance80 · 16/04/2021 23:21

He he I have bags worth a lot more
I don't ask what other people think about them though (nor care less)

catherineofarrogance80 · 16/04/2021 23:22

Oh you're petite as well?
So so small

QuietBatPeople1 · 16/04/2021 23:23

@GinAndTonicOnIt thank you for being kind. Thought I’ll never see that in here.

It’s funny- you see posts in mumsnet about people paying high price tag and some days it’s all about ‘oh go for it if you can afford it’

The other says you get a bunch who are trying to chew your head off!!

OP posts:
LolaSmiles · 16/04/2021 23:24

GinAndTonicOnIt
Because people couldn't have an opinion on an item without being jealous Hmm

naturallydelicious · 16/04/2021 23:26

I'd be thinking why on earth is she carrying around the basket from her bike

GinAndTonicOnIt · 16/04/2021 23:27

@QuietBatPeople1 totally agree.

I think that the first few replies on threads are the decider. Everyone then just jumps on the bandwagon and they all LOVE roasting the OP if they feel it's justified because everyone else is doing it. Here it's because it's an expensive bag that's a bit different (I still love it btw!)

It's a bag, if you don't like it just say, not to my taste. It sounds really bitter to then thrash the reply out to death even more, like many of the posters here have!

GreyhoundG1rl · 16/04/2021 23:30

No, that's not it
QuietBatPeople1 · 16/04/2021 23:32

@GinAndTonicOnIt I ignore the nasty ones- they sound like bitter people.

I need to carry in looking for a bag which can carry a few bits. With Covid rules I’m having to lug around a coffee mug etc as well Confused

OP posts:
JustMeAndWheatley · 16/04/2021 23:35

I don’t think I’d have any opinion at all.

Uniquerandomer · 16/04/2021 23:39

OP, what about this bag? It can fit a laptop, is around the same price range, but is a bit more versatile.

QuietBatPeople1 · 16/04/2021 23:43

@Uniquerandomer that’s a nice bag- thank you for the link.

Only issue they have it in black only- I don’t want black/brown/navy as they are too dark and dull. Want something cheerful to carry around on not so great work days!

OP posts:
BackforGood · 16/04/2021 23:59

No one is shocked of a bag of that price
Everyone is shocked that that bag is that price

No, sorry, but I am shocked at the price of paying that for a bag.

People are probably just jealous you can afford to spend this much on a bag and they have zero desire to hide it!

I never understand when people trot out this old chestnut on MN. You do realise people can either not particularly like a style of something, or that people can think something is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on something, without being jealous ?

At this stage in my life, I could easily take £350 out of our account without causing any problems, but I personally would think it a complete waste of money. Now, someone else might think that is the one thing they ever spend "spending money" on, and someone else will be on such a high salary this is a pittance. But it doesn't mean people are jealous. People just have different priorities.

HalzTangz · 17/04/2021 00:00
@HalzTangz I don’t want to carry too many bags around- hence looking for all in one option. I’m 5’2 and petite so don’t want a HUGE bag to swamp me too.

Backpacks are a complete no - I never carry those properly and always end up with some sort of an ache
If you're carrying a laptop around it should be a bag that straps it in securely to stop complements in the laptop getting damaged. Handbags weren't really designed for laptops to be carried around

I never suggested a back pack.

I'm also 5'2 petite. I find it quite easy to carry a laptop bag for work bits, and smaller handbag for personal bits. One over the shoulder, one in my hand.
I tried the big bags and find work stuff weighs them down which makes the straps cut into your shoulders

GinAndTonicOnIt · 17/04/2021 00:14

Yes but why get so weirdly mean about it? If you don't like it just say so, politely. Don't start relating it to market stall bags, granny bags, or angrily call the op names because you don't give any fu€ks about what bag people carry and the op must be very self centred.

Completely over the top, wreaks of jealousy.

tilder · 17/04/2021 02:27

I would think you are lost.

You clearly have a very different job to me. That does not look like a work bag. More tote/beach/large handbag.

Ericaequites · 17/04/2021 02:49

It’s to loud to be used with anything but plain navy.

steff13 · 17/04/2021 02:53

I love it.

Pyewackect · 17/04/2021 02:58

Nobody would even notice.

Bumberlee · 17/04/2021 03:24

I would think you like to stand out and be different. Probably like Joe Brown and Fat Face.

Sleepdeprivedmama1 · 17/04/2021 03:48

Ah I wish I got a nice KS bag when John Lewis had that pricing error! People were getting £300 plus bags at 90% discount!!

If you like it OP and you have the means to pay for it comfortably , then I'd say go for it! You only live once. In terms of style, I think its pretty and would notice it. Probably wouldn't ask as it'll have the KS branding on it anyway but do it for you rather than what other people think about it.

1forAll74 · 17/04/2021 03:54

I might just use a bag like this, to go to the local corner shop, but in the pinky colour, and if it cost about a fiver.. It looks as if I could get some celery , cucumber a bottle of milk, and a carton of Tropicana Orange juice in it.
