If I walked into your office carrying this bag

What would your first thought be? Too loud? Too big? Great bag to fit everything in?

OP posts:

I'm 23, I wouldn't buy it for myself, but I like it! I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. I'm sick of it only being women judged for the tiniest things, I'm alsotired of other women judging based on a bag that shock has a pattern on it.

Buy it if you like it OP, maybe it's my age but I can think of very few offices that would care about the bag if the outfit was smart enough.

MyDcAreMarvel · 16/04/2021 17:52

It would give me a headache

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 16/04/2021 17:55

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland

OPs link, copied and pasted, actually includes a little bit of code enabling her or presumably the ad agency age works for to track people clicking it. It's a way to evidence how a marketing campaign is working. I'm not the first poster to spot it either, it's not rocket science.

You have all merrily clicked away for her.

Even without that this whole thread is clearly a nice little ad for the bag, or a bit of market research on how the typical mumsnet user responds to it.

Yep. 'affiliate' shows up more than once in the link

Plus the bag is boring as hell, totally impractical, ridiculously overpriced, and whoever designed the website can't extend themselves to capital letters apparently. I'm not left with a glowing impression of the brand, frankly.

lljkk · 16/04/2021 17:56

I guess if I noticed (big if) I would deduce you were into fashion & had a lot of stuff to carry. Would otherwise struggle to muster an opinion unless it was cluttering up my desk.

Starborn · 16/04/2021 17:58

It would annoy the life out of me having stripes that don't tone correctly with the base colour. And it's priced at least £325 more than it's worth.

wesowereonabreak · 16/04/2021 17:58

PattyPan

I work in a really corporate environment, and am pretty much the only female, I still go in suits and the odd gems like this bag Grin

DH hates my bags. Doesn't care about the bags themselves, it's the sheer amount of them that bothers him...

this is my current favourite, but I haven't been to Primark yet!

LEMtheoriginal · 16/04/2021 18:00

I really like it. Beyond my budget and don't have an office job but i think if i did id go for something like that. Question is - do YOU like it?

I don't think it looks expensive or show offy , but then i know nothing about desigbdesigners.

I would probably comment i like your bag, then say "fuck me" if you told me the price.

Some odd comments on here

PattyPan · 16/04/2021 18:01

I'm alsotired of other women judging based on a bag that shock has a pattern on it.

If this was in response to my post, it’s not an age thing - I’m 26! It’s not that I’m against patterns per se (other than animal print which looks tacky without exception), the print on OP’s bag is just a bit in your face.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 16/04/2021 18:01

To be fair to the OP I think MN sometimes automatically implements affiliate link wizardry on links posted to shopping sites so it might possibly be that? Not sufficiently clued up to tell the difference myself.

NoseOfJericho · 16/04/2021 18:02

I think it is ugly, especially the stripes, but what would really irritate me is the problem I would have with the top being smaller than the rest of the bag, things end up at the bottom and it is difficult to dig around and find them in a reverse bucket shape.

If you walked into my office with it I would think 'Oh dear'. Having said that, I don't actually have an office...

PattyPan · 16/04/2021 18:06

@wesowereonabreak I actually quite like the one on your second link but it must be so difficult to match bags like that to clothes? I am so boring, I have a black bag for client facing days and a navy backpack for normal days. I used to use a big black tote but I have come to the conclusion a backpack is essential for avoiding shoulder ache!

IdblowJonSnow · 16/04/2021 18:06

I love it.

MadinMarch · 16/04/2021 18:08

It's quite large for a lunch box.....

BlueCherryBlossom · 16/04/2021 18:09

Wouldn't notice it, wouldn't occur to me that it's owner/wearer was expecting me to Confused

It's a very inoffensive normal looking bag 🤷‍♀️

But I'm not a bag person, so don't pay an iota of attention to bags.

Jellykat · 16/04/2021 18:09

Hate the stripes, they're so clumsy!

wesowereonabreak · 16/04/2021 18:11

PattyPan

I have a lot of boring clothes for work (just easier to get dressed in the morning)

and everything goes with jeans and a tshirt at the weekend!

My problem is more to have to take 2 bags when 1 is too small! Usually a sports bag...

osbertthesyrianhamster · 16/04/2021 18:11

I wouldn't notice.

PattyPan · 16/04/2021 18:17

@wesowereonabreak I do that too -
I have my backpack with my laptop, notebook, lunch, water bottle etc and then a canvas bag with my gym kit. I’m still working from home and not missing lugging all that around!

TokyoSushi · 16/04/2021 18:17

I'd be massively jealous of it, I've looked at it so many times but it's very ££££

user1491404899 · 16/04/2021 18:21

Really wouldn't care. I use a fluffy chewbacca backpack in my office. No one cares about your bag

ghostyslovesheets · 16/04/2021 18:24

@Zachary321 Oh I have coveted that bag for a while - it's sat in my virtual shopping bag for a long time! Might buy it for my birthday - is it good quality?

This is my current favourite bag and it was a bargain [https://www.ospreylondon.com/men/all-bags/satchels-and-messengers/the-clayton-leather-satchel-chocolate]

Onthegrid · 16/04/2021 18:24

I have only skim read this thread as it’s been a long week.

When I went to the office I had a large Coach tote in black it was perfect for a laptop etc. But it is heavy when empty and very heavy with my stuff in it, this is fine when I am just walking from my car to the office, 50m but useless for meetings in London.

I also think that complimenting someone is nice if done with meaning, but not if you do it all the time. So I might like a new hair cut or a great dress, but I won’t tell you how good you look every day.

friendlycat · 16/04/2021 18:31

I would just think you have been shopping in TKMaxx

UntamedWisteria · 16/04/2021 18:34

I like Kate Spade stuff, but not keen on that bag - sorry OP.
