Just a carry on really from the other thread. Everyone seemed to have so many different words for "beeping' your horn.

OP posts:
Nutrigrainygoodness · 15/04/2021 20:06

Blast.
As in 'I had to Blast at some wanker today, who clearly didn't know how to roundabout'

NotMrsTumble · 15/04/2021 20:09

Toot or beep.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 15/04/2021 20:22

Bip or bib. If someone uses the horn at me, then they have pipped at me.

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2021 20:27

@KVIIIlyne no I wouldn't use my horn to tell somebody a light has changed, as that's an improper use of the horn. And it's never happened to me anyway.

I don't think most people use it as intended anyway. My brother thinks it's an "I'm pissed off" button.

Longdistance · 15/04/2021 20:28

I honk my horn. ‘Oi! dickhead!’

TheBullfinch · 15/04/2021 20:30

I thought this was going to be about feeling frisky.

Northernsoullover · 15/04/2021 20:30

@BreakfastOfWaffles

"Tootle. If very annoyed, tootle with vigour" I love this translation in a Japanese magazine from years ago 😂.
I saw this too and its tickled me ever since Grin
HowManyToes · 15/04/2021 20:31

@OhMyMirror

I say pamped/pamp. Im just outside Glasgow.
I’m in Glasgow, I ‘toot’ but I have heard pamp/pamper before.
Northernsoullover · 15/04/2021 20:32

Honda manual apparently

I dont drive but my DB had a huge American car a few years ago and is a very laid back driver so despite me traveling with him often I never heard the horn until one day when a muppet blasted through a red light at a cross junction nearly taking us out .
DB hit the horn Christ i nearly hit the roof of the car it scared the bugger out of me it was so loud !

I am not sure how I would normally describe hitting the horn but that was about as far away from a toot or peep as I think you could get !

Pinchoftums · 15/04/2021 20:59

Normally have a quick wank (childish)

Onairjunkie · 15/04/2021 21:00

@ShowOfHands

I've never beeped/bibbed/sounded my horn in 8 years of driving.
I suspect you have been the subject of other people’s horns more than once 😂
Incywincyspinsters · 15/04/2021 21:02

I sit on it. That’s not as rude as it sounds. I get very impatient when driving. Blush

underneaththeash · 15/04/2021 21:04

Sound or beep. But I wouldn’t say beeped my horn, just beeped at them. I would say - sounded my horn.

SuperSange · 15/04/2021 21:29

It's a beep here.

StoneofDestiny · 15/04/2021 21:48

Glasgow - a definite blast, and mean it..

CrazyTitsLiz · 15/04/2021 21:50

Genuinely, I've had to hide the other thread as the word "pomped" upset me so much.

No one calls it that!!!

amusedbush · 15/04/2021 21:52

I’m in Glasgow.

I ‘beep’ if someone is fannying about at the lights and I’m getting their attention. I ‘honk’ if someone does something dangerous and I’m pissed off.

BonnieDundee · 16/04/2021 02:37

I toot

steff13 · 16/04/2021 07:06

Honk

sarahandduckisthebest · 16/04/2021 20:21

I blast mine. Example.

"Had to blast my horn at the numpty"

Skyliner001 · 16/04/2021 20:35

Beep
