Just a carry on really from the other thread. Everyone seemed to have so many different words for "beeping' your horn.

OP posts:
Barbie222 · 15/04/2021 18:44

My husband horns. He does speak English as a second language but I thought it was quite funny!

isitjustlockdown · 15/04/2021 18:45

I'm a honker personally.

therocinante · 15/04/2021 18:46

Pipped or beeped.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 15/04/2021 18:46

@OhMyMirror

I say pamped/pamp. Im just outside Glasgow.
It's just getting more and more crazy!

I would beep or honk.
I would sound it if I was feeling formal and fancy. I imagine myself with a twirly moustache when I sound my horn for some reason. Just me? Thought so.

SuziQuatrosFatNan · 15/04/2021 18:46

The butler deals with such matters.

megletthesecond · 15/04/2021 18:46

Beep.
Blind corners usually.

Pomped · 15/04/2021 18:47

Despite my inspired new username Grin I beep or if trying to sound formal eg insurance claim, sounded!

Although does anyone else find when you need to use the horn you suddenly panic that you can’t find it / don’t know how?!!

Youdontknowwhatyoureonabout · 15/04/2021 18:48

Beep / beeping

ImInStealthMode · 15/04/2021 18:49

Beep.

In 20 years of driving I've done it a few times deliberately and once accidentally. The accidental time I was in a South African National park and all sitting in rapt silence watching a leopard and her cub. I reached quietly for my extra camera lens without looking what I was doing and BEEEEPPPPP BlushConfused

JamesGetIn · 15/04/2021 18:51

Too'ed.

Like tooted, but with a glottal stop.

Iheartmysmart · 15/04/2021 18:52

Depends, if someone has annoyed me they generally get a blast of the horn! Happens a lot when you drive a really small car and people either don’t look properly or just pull out in front of you regardless. If it’s to let someone know I’m there they get a toot.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 15/04/2021 18:54

I can never find the bloody thing when I need it, however my massive norks have no problem finding the bloody thing when I'm wiping the inside of my windshield Oh and beep/beeped, pip/pipped never Pomp or Pomped

Hidinginstaircupboard · 15/04/2021 18:54

I "hit the horn" or "sound it"

Oooer this thread and my reply sound so saucy!!!

I think in my head that I'm "beeping" but it's more a NAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR sound

NoGoodPunsLeft · 15/04/2021 18:56

Beep.

DH described the horn in my last car as 'cute' so I didn't bother using it much to convey anger Grin

Xboxstolemychildren · 15/04/2021 18:56

It used to be 'beep/beeped' pre dc, but now it's 'ink/inked' as Ds then aged 3, now 11 excitedly exclaimed one day "mummy look at that car it's fucking sick ink him ink him " Blush and it kind of stuck.

Stigsmother · 15/04/2021 18:58

Parp !!Blush

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 15/04/2021 18:59

Your three year old said what now Grin
Smallfry79 · 15/04/2021 19:02

Im Irish if it matters but I would say beeped or blew. Beep is probably more friendly while blew could be friendly or aggressive. They are interchangeable but that would be the general pattern.
Some new ones for me here, pipped, peeped, pomped, even tooted all sound terribly polite to me. I think honk is very American.

Xboxstolemychildren · 15/04/2021 19:03

@JesusIsAnyNameFree
Yes he really did say that Blush at the time he was massively into cars and we'd driven past a super car, he was so excited that he couldn't contain it Grin he's 11 now and never sworn since.

Benfoldslanded · 15/04/2021 19:04

Beep or pomp!
@Pomped love the username.

Mydogisagentleman · 15/04/2021 19:07

Bib or bibbed

SilverOtter · 15/04/2021 19:10

Pipped or beeped.

MadisonAvenue · 15/04/2021 19:11

Pipped, except I don’t drive (yet) so it’s not something I’ve actually done.

Picklypickles · 15/04/2021 19:11

Meeped/meeping.

yuccaplant · 15/04/2021 19:12

Beep. Or bibbed. Never pomped 😂
