Just a carry on really from the other thread. Everyone seemed to have so many different words for "beeping' your horn.

OP posts:
Justmoveonin · 15/04/2021 19:13

Honk or beep

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 15/04/2021 19:14

I think cars should have two horns. A little one you bib that means "Er, excuse me I think you'll find the light has just gone green," and a loud blare that says "You bastard you could have killed me, you shouldn't be on the bloody road!"

My car only has the former. It doesn't matter how angry I am it only produces a noise like a teddy bear's fart.

Jericha · 15/04/2021 19:26

Beep. My mum bibs apparently.

merryhouse · 15/04/2021 19:31

Beep or bip. Possibly. Never actually done it - passed my test in 1998.

Pomped sounds like you've farted.

MargotsBumpyNight · 15/04/2021 19:40

Pamp

AnxiousAlpaca · 15/04/2021 19:42

I ride a motorcycle. I accidentally beep it now and then.

LemonRoses · 15/04/2021 19:43

Honked or blasted.

orderingcalmingtea · 15/04/2021 19:44

I toot, I seem to be in a minority

Etulosba · 15/04/2021 19:49

I think cars should have two horns.

Some do. They used to be called town and country. The town one was quieter.

Tangledtresses · 15/04/2021 19:50

I've got a big van and the horn is an embarrassment it's

Toooot toooot
Sounds like thomas the tank engine

LavendulaAngustifolia · 15/04/2021 19:51

Bip it. Usually when I'm putting the lock on and I bip it accidentally.

WhenDoesTheWashingEnd · 15/04/2021 19:51

Beep, pip or honk.

I love pomp though.
I may do this too now. 🤣🤣

StoneofDestiny · 15/04/2021 19:52

Blast

StoneofDestiny · 15/04/2021 19:53

As I only use it is an emergency to sound a massive warning - it's Blast

NecklessMumster · 15/04/2021 19:54

Bip

DontBeRidiculous · 15/04/2021 19:55

I don't use mine (I just curse idiotic, dangerous drivers to myself and anyone else in the car), but I'd say a loud, long sound is honking the horn, whereas a short, "polite" sound is beeping.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 15/04/2021 19:57

Parp or beep, usually parp. "Give him a parp!"

C0nn1e · 15/04/2021 19:59

Pressed but current car horn is pathetic, so its only had a test press!

FancySomeChips · 15/04/2021 19:59

Beep

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 15/04/2021 20:01

I've been pomping since yesterday.

stuckinarutatwork · 15/04/2021 20:01

Honk
Beep
Toot

(In order of preference Grin)

BreakfastOfWaffles · 15/04/2021 20:03

"Tootle. If very annoyed, tootle with vigour" I love this translation in a Japanese magazine from years ago 😂.

User135644 · 15/04/2021 20:05

@ShowOfHands

I've never beeped/bibbed/sounded my horn in 8 years of driving.
It's the height of bad manners (unless someone does something drastic to warrant it).
