Thank you so very much to the lovely individual or individuals who helped themselves to the toy electric quad bike that we had bought for our eldest DS Christmas. You not only stole from a child, but have denied us the delight that we should have been able to see on his face when he opened his present.

And thanks for making my otherwise brilliant weekend crappy. GGRrrrr

sixlostmonkeys · 12/11/2007 10:38

sympathies to you...

but don't go murdering anyone!

tissy · 12/11/2007 10:40

can't you claim on the house insurance?

staryeyed · 12/11/2007 10:43

I hate thieves

fedupwasherwoman · 12/11/2007 10:51

Claim on your insurance

Hulababy · 12/11/2007 10:55

Can you claim for it?

It's horrid when things get stolen.

Buda · 12/11/2007 10:59

Where was it?

And YANBU. I would not only want to murder the gits but would spend days fantasising about just how I would do it.

nametaken · 12/11/2007 11:07

If you paid for it by credit card ring the company and tell them - I think (but not 100% sure) that it might be covered under their insurance.

And please, everyone of MN, be v.v. careful this time of year as it's a classic time for thieves to be operating.

It's disgusting really as whoever stole it is gonna be trying to sell it down the local pub. Try to tell police and get a story in your local paper so that people are at least aware if someone tries to sell them a childs quadbike. Also keep an eye out on ebay - and if you think you see it - contact the police.

I know I'm probably over reacting about this, but I?m just so annoyed. I would never so much as think about helping myself to someone else's possession never mind something that belongs to a child. How heartless is that?

Unfortunately the household insurance won't cover it because it was stored in an outhouse/stable building which we don't own because we're in the middle of moving house and didn't want to spoil the surprise by risking it being "found" during the move. Big mistake.

I know it could have been a lot worse; I mean what if they had helped themselves to one of the horses that are kept there? Also, I?m totally creeped out by the thought of someone lurking around the place.

We're doing Christmas on a tight budget this year anyway because of the house move and huge cost involved with that. So, yes, it was a 2nd hand one off Ebay (as DH tried to point out helpful and got chewed out for his trouble), but it's not about the cost, it?s about feeling completely frustrated that some would be shitty enough to do it in the first place. The fact that they are more than likely going to get away with it is annoying me even more.

I'm hormone central at the moment, and that isn't helping me get perspective on this, but thanks for letting me rant. I may have to invest in some Nutella later for medicinal purposes. [hmmm]

When I was quite young my parents had done the Xmas toy shop and left it in the car till we were in bed. Went to get it all and it was gone. Reckoned they were followed home from the shop. There are some really nasty people around and always has been.

cestlavie · 12/11/2007 16:02

I think the best way of dealing with it is with a large glass of wine and a 1-2 hour period spent fantasing about what sorts of torture you'd like to inflict upon the thieving little bastards should you ever be in a position to do so. You can get quite imaginative by the second hour I've found...

dingdongkerrykonhigh · 12/11/2007 16:25

reamhar, where abouts do you live, i have one of these quad bikes that dd no longer uses its yours if i could get it to you.

emzzzzz · 12/11/2007 16:32

Oh No
Bloody bastards, no doubt they sold it cheap for drug money

staryeyed · 12/11/2007 18:09

what a lovely offer dingdong. See there are still good people in the world.

Reamhar · 12/11/2007 22:26

Dingdongkerrykonhigh I'm completely speechless (which is unusual for me). Thank you for the offer. As staryeyed says, there are still great people in the world.

cestlavie you were right about the wine. I was most amused by imaging a particularly grisly scene involving ants which was on CSI Vegas some time ago.

I am quite determind about keeping an eye on ebay to see if it appears. Turns out it must have been taken between 7AM and 3PM on the Saturday, so they've not had it for very long.
