Why do I keep seeing twats with babies on their laps in cars?

And recently, two cars with the ever-irritating baby on board type stickers, with tiny babies on lap of grinning idiot in back of car.

And once a little while ago a baby on the lap of someone in the front seat of the car.

I always remember my sister, when she was SHO in A&E coming back in floods of tears after having spent 8 hours trying to save the life of a baby who wasn't in a car seat and had gone through the windscreen. It was one of the things which made her change her specialty from paediatrics to psychiatry, it just upset her so deeply. The parents were unharmed, because they'd been wearing seatbelts. Well, unharmed apart from having to stand by and watch their baby die
My sis really does go ballistic when she sees kids not in car seats, even in taxis or 'one-off situations'. Who can blame her...

Even better when they are puffing away too!

There was some yummy mummy behind me in a Land Rover on the way to work this morning with 2 little girls in the car, both about 4/5 yo. One in the back (with a dummy ) in a car seat (don't know if strapped in) and another in the front seat, no booster/child seat and NO SEATBELT! Mum had her seatbelt on but hadn't bothered to strap the child in! We were all going very slowly - morning traffic jam on roundabout approach - and I was tempted to brake quickly in front of her so the child would be thrown out of her seat a little. We weren't going fast enough for any damage to be done but she might have got the point about potential danger. But a car got between us at the roundabout so I didn't get a chance.

Can't believe what idiots some people are.
