At what point/time do you consider loud outdoor music playing rude?

I guess I’m just trying to guess if I am a miserable hag Grin

So a house in the street behind me (not 100% sure which!) has been playing loud music in the garden since about midday. Its so loud dogs in the area have been barking pretty much continuously, including my own everytime I let her out to pee.

It doesn’t even sound like a party as I can only hear the odd voice shouting to another to bring this and that out into the garden, so in my view a waste of the good grace from direct neighbours 🤣

Am I just a miserly git for thinking its really rude for everyone to be forced to listen to shitty dance music from 2007 for almost 10 hours?? How many versions of DJ Sammy’s Heaven must I endure, because I swear I’ve heard at least 4 kinds????

I'm not a good gauge on this one because I think it's rude at any time 😬

Mollymopple · 10/04/2021 21:35

YANBU! This would really annoy me. I find it so selfish....especially dance music

Igotfiveonit · 10/04/2021 21:35

Parties are one thing but when it’s just for their own personal use and you have to be subjected to their dire music then that’s selfish.

As a one off then I would tolerate it to whatever hour (on a Friday or Saturday). I’d get very annoyed if it was consistent.

Hagqueen · 10/04/2021 21:35

@TheGumption ha, well really so am I, but the consensus in my family suggests I am miserable. I kind of thought 9pm would be a natural cut off as its gone dark and cold here - and respectful to tbose with young children.

Any time

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 10/04/2021 21:37

As soon as it starts.

HarrietHardy · 10/04/2021 21:37

11pm, they'd get told to get to fuck round here Grin

It's hard when it's a garden behind you, because you can't quite pinpoint the address, and you end up hoping the immediate neighbours will do something, i.e. bang on their their door and say 'oi, turn it down, people have kids'.

I think for today, hope it's a one-off.

LavenderLollies · 10/04/2021 21:38

Any time tbh. People could be on nights and be sleeping in the day, have toddlers napping, anything. It’s rude and antisocial.

murbblurb · 10/04/2021 21:38

At any time unless you are running a stadium gig or live on a desert island.

CaffeineAndCrochet · 10/04/2021 21:39

Any time.

Although an occasional pass for a special occasion if the neighbours have been warned in advance.

Thislittlefinger123 · 10/04/2021 21:40

At any time. It's selfish and anti social.

littlepattilou · 10/04/2021 21:40

It should stop outside by 9pm IMO. (And indoors too.)

Not everyone wants to hear your bastard rabble!

Hagqueen · 10/04/2021 21:41

I’m glad I’m not alone!

As @HarrietHardy says, its hard to pin point exactly whose house it is, as there’s not obvious garden activity. In all honesty I probably wouldn’t report it even if I knew, not unless it was every day.

I think I’d feel more indulgent about it if it sounded like a gathering, I know people have missed seeing each other. Or if they had bloody better busy, its utter crap!

Eyebrows raise after 8pm.
Eyebrows turn into a firm frown after 9pm.
Rage begins at 10pm.
Ring the council at 11pm.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 10/04/2021 21:43

Anytime.

A special occasion party as a one off: fine.

Friends in the garden for a BBQ occasionally at the weekend: quiet outside from 9 or 10pm

But general ‘play your music outside’ ? No.

candlemasbells · 10/04/2021 21:45

Anytime. Occasional parties are ok if the neighbours are all warned first.

ALongHardWinter · 10/04/2021 21:45

Any time.

notangelinajolie · 10/04/2021 21:48

Loud music anytime is rude.

StoneofDestiny · 10/04/2021 21:51

It's always rude. Nobody should force anybody else to listen to their music. Play it indoors - or get wireless headphones.

WildBluebell · 10/04/2021 21:53

Any time.

daisypond · 10/04/2021 21:55

Any time. An occasional one-off is OK in daytime, evening , as long as not too loud.

speakout · 10/04/2021 21:57

Anytime.

Thecazelets · 10/04/2021 21:59

Any time is unbelievably rude and inconsiderate.

FireflyRainbow · 10/04/2021 22:14

Myneighbours do this sometimes. Aslong as its off by midnight I can deal with it. Went on till 2am once so I complained and its been off by midnight since. Touch wood.

Hagqueen · 10/04/2021 22:17

Midnight! @FireflyRainbow you have more patience than I!

Music went off about five minutes ago, thank god! And so has the dog choir too! Phew!
