At what point/time do you consider loud outdoor music playing rude?

I guess I’m just trying to guess if I am a miserable hag Grin

So a house in the street behind me (not 100% sure which!) has been playing loud music in the garden since about midday. Its so loud dogs in the area have been barking pretty much continuously, including my own everytime I let her out to pee.

It doesn’t even sound like a party as I can only hear the odd voice shouting to another to bring this and that out into the garden, so in my view a waste of the good grace from direct neighbours 🤣

Am I just a miserly git for thinking its really rude for everyone to be forced to listen to shitty dance music from 2007 for almost 10 hours?? How many versions of DJ Sammy’s Heaven must I endure, because I swear I’ve heard at least 4 kinds????

I have relatively new neighbours that did this last weekend, music was on from 11am - 7pm and gradually got louder. As far as I'm aware it's just a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children, both under 6 years of age.
Thought it was a bit selfish tbh. Wouldn't have minded a couple of hours, but I think 8 hours is too long. I kept thinking to myself, won't their kids have a nap at some point.

Justgivemeamoment · 10/04/2021 22:22

Absolutely anytime.

Abracadabra12345 · 10/04/2021 22:24

Any time except for special occasions

equuscaballus · 10/04/2021 22:27

Its never ok!

SnackSizeRaisin · 10/04/2021 22:30

Any music outdoors at any time is rude. They should use headphones or go indoors.
Indoor music audible outdoors is ok very occasionally (once a year maybe) if they have prewarned the neighbours. Only till 11 though.

ame88 · 10/04/2021 22:30

Id only be annoyed if it was a regular occurrence.
A one off all day bbq with music wouldn't bother me tbh! I'd say 11pm cut off! Just going off if I hosted a bbq with friends (which I very much hope to do in the summer!) I'm sure there would be some music

Holothane · 10/04/2021 22:30

Anytime the last so called let’s get together and celebrate VE Day was hell due to our music all day and night police called in the end and we weren’t the only ones fed up, I feel your pain nothing worse is there.

LouNatics · 10/04/2021 22:31

I wasn’t expecting these responses. I was going to say that after 11pm on weeknights and midnight on weekends I’d start raising an eyebrow. And if it went on past 1-2pm with frequency I’d be having a word.

It’s a regular occurrence here and of course the above are roughly the rules in licensed premises.

LadyPoison · 10/04/2021 22:32

Rude at any time

JackieWeaverFever · 10/04/2021 22:33

Anytime is rude.

Our NDNs love and insisted on "bifolds to manual" and stereo set to 11 every. sunny. day. last summer.
They are loaded with time on their hands (one is a semi famous ex pop star so neither of them work!) They are honestly very nice but not very considerate with noise...
We are hoping once covid lifts we discover they "summer abroad".

Geamhradh · 10/04/2021 22:35

Any time.

But it’s outdoors. In a private house/garden. Not the same as licensed premises. It would be deemed a nuisance by the council. Even if it was indoors and you could hear it, it’s still a nuisance.
Operasinger · 10/04/2021 22:37

If I can hear it, it’s rude.

Same!!

Any time. I hate selfish neighbours and their loud music. Other neighbours could be working or sick or just trying to enjoy their day off. We are also still in the middle of a pandemic.

Pupster21 · 10/04/2021 22:58

We might have the same neighbours! I’m hoping once the pubs open it might settle down

Norwaydidnthappen · 10/04/2021 23:02

It’s always rude and almost always terrible music to boot.

Thewithesarehere · 10/04/2021 23:04

It’s always rude.

Tigerstripe20 · 10/04/2021 23:05

Yep anytime is not a good time especially if they are also trying to sing along
I want to sit in my garden and not have to listen to BoB Marley , mashing into Whitney Houston whilst you talk over the top and then try to sing along.
Glad they moved/ got evicted

BrightYellowDaffodil · 10/04/2021 23:05

Any time I can hear it.

And it's always shit music, isn't it? You never find yourself thinking "Oh there's next door with their opera again" or "That's the third time this week with the cello concertos". No, it's always crappy Euro pop or something. It's almost like bad taste and inconsideration for others go hand in hand...

Cherrysoup · 10/04/2021 23:09

Immediately. It should be a serious crime. I hate people imposing on neighbours in this way. Who the fuck do they think they are?

Charm23 · 10/04/2021 23:17

This is the one thing I hate about living where we do. Usually it's great that it's very friendly and full of families and kids playing out, street BBQs etc but once the weather gets warmer if it's not a hot tub (never realised how loud these are!), it's a drunken garden party complete with awful karaoke.
Tonight it was my direct neighbours turn to throw a non-socially-distanced garden party even though she knows full well that several houses nearby us have young babies/children. I didn't say anything but I have to other neighbours in the past when it was going on past midnight. Ideally I think music should be off by 8pm, 9pm at the latest.

AnnListersBlister · 10/04/2021 23:21

I realise I'm the exception but it doesn't bother me at all.

I like to hear people enjoying themselves.
Especially nowadays!

IpreferInchyraBlue · 10/04/2021 23:23

Any time is rude.

FireflyRainbow · 11/04/2021 01:22

I commented on this earlier and think I jinxed myself. My bastard neighbours have been doing drunk karaoke in the garden all night it's now 1:20am and they are still out there. My teens stayed up till midnight as I thought they would finish then and it was so loud plus their room faces the back. Still bloody going 😩😩 hate them. Yes I've complained.
