It's being filed as a 'class action' lawsuit. I thought for a lawsuit to be a class action there had to be other litigants who had also been 'damaged/disadvantaged'. Certainly this conduct should result in contempt of court charges and hefty fines. Better yet, jail time if they can track down the bastards who did/ordered it.

And God bless those families for their grit and determination. They've been fighting for 8 1/2 years now.

On a similar note, legislation has been signed in NY state to make gun companies liable on a limited basis for gun related violence, just the same way the tobacco companies have been held liable for tobacco-related deaths. As is stands now the 2005 federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act protects gun manufacturers and dealers from being held liable if crimes are committed with their products. The NY law seeks to circumvent the federal act. Of course, the gun companies will challenge it in court.
