Is this weird or am I a slattern

I think it totally fine to wash tee towels in with clothes washing .
My partner thinks they should be washed separately on a hot wash.
He thinks it just not right to have tee towels and underwear washed together as its unhygienic.
My clothes washing is on a 40 degrees wash.
Tell me Im not mad .
Happy Easter everyone.

Good lord some of you must be constantly doing laundry.

I separate into light/darks and have washed lights on 40° darks on 30° for over 40yrs. The only thing that gets washed separately on 90° is the bedding off my own bed.

We are a very healthy household so it doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

@BrightYellowDaffodil

Final question: my toddler is always sticky and often has a runny nose. Should I wash her at 40, or play safe with 60?

Have you got a sheep dip you could dredge her through?

😂😂😂

Kitchen laundry gets binned and washed separately at our house. We don’t just have tea towels. We use reusable paper towels and sponges. It all gets washed on the sanitary cycle.

MrsWP · 04/04/2021 14:14

All together.

Although the cloths I use to clean bathroom/toilet go in with the bath and hand towels on a 90.

If there are tea towels around (always are as we get through a couple a day as we wipe the sides with them) then they get the 90 treatment too.

Honestly @YourCakesAreShit, she sounds like a germfest; I probably wouldn’t let her in the house at all. Have you got a shed or outbuilding you can confine her to?

We have just built her a playhouse but the last time I tried to turn her loose there were all sorts of murmurings about 'neglect' and 'abuse' so I'm wary of going there again.

I do like the sheep dip suggestion, though. I could just swill her around in it when we get back from nursery every day.

CrazySheepLady · 04/04/2021 14:20

Washing all these things separately wouldn't be good for the environment or for the electric bill!
We wash them all together. Your husband is crackers.

Anyone else put their mooncup in the dishwasher?

Alsohuman · 04/04/2021 14:31

Team partner here. The thought of tea towels washed with socks and pants makes me feel a bit nauseous.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/04/2021 14:35

I wash tea towels in with other things, on a 40 degree wash, and haven’t killed anyone yet.

My mum had a special saucepan, in which she boiled tea towels and handkerchiefs.

I think modern detergents are good enough that my way is fine.

Susannahmoody · 04/04/2021 14:36

I think you sound amazing

Facetious, surely?

MixedUpFiles · 04/04/2021 14:37

I used to have a separate pan for sterilizing my moon cup on the stove. It was a pain and took of too much space. Then tried a microwave steamer. That didn’t really work. Finally bought little electric steamer. Works perfectly and tucks away on the bathroom cabinet.

You wash socks with pants ? OMG, can't believe what I'm reading, I feel rather faint Shock

I can no longer tell when people are taking the piss or not 😞
CecilyP · 04/04/2021 14:56

40 degrees can't possibly kill the bacteria on a tea towel

Yes it can as long as you use detergent!

I'm absolutely not joking. I do this.

Aquagirl19 · 04/04/2021 15:04

Tea towels get chucked in with the rest of the washing here. I've never even thought about doing them separately. Whoops...

80sMum · 04/04/2021 15:08

I wash all the used tea towels, floor cloths and dishcloths with the bathroom towels and the reusable handkerchiefs together on a hotter wash than clothes, usually 60 degrees.

ImAlrightThanx · 04/04/2021 15:19

You'll get people on here saying they wash everything separately on a 100 degree wash and anything less is gross, but in reality most people just bung it in and wash it together.
You're fine, OP

DeliaOwens · 04/04/2021 15:30

Here we don't wash towels, tea towels or flannels/face cloths in with clothes. I do them on a very hot wash with no softener.

confusedofengland · 04/04/2021 15:55

I used to put my tea towels & cloths (I use rags & wash then reuse them) in with clothes, on a 40 wash. Then one day I did it with the cloth I had used to bleach the bathroom sink & DS2'S new coat. I obviously put them close together as DS2'S coat now has bleach patches on & is scruffy 😭 So now I have a separate cleaning wash, or put them in with bath mats etc.

Jourdain11 · 04/04/2021 15:58

I am obviously also a slattery! But DH never even remembers to put to tea towels in the wash - so he must just be a sloth!

GrolliffetheDragon · 04/04/2021 16:31

I don't, but usually have a full wash just with clothes as DS has turned into a mud magnet this last year after always being reasonably clean before that. Also all clothes go on on a cold wash. I'll put the tea towels in with the bath towels though on a 60. Or a 40.
