What would you ban?

The dog thread has got me pondering...

I'd ban smoking. Ideally full stop but would settle for at least anywhere outside of your own house. It smells. Its unhealthy not just for you but for people around you who don't choose to smoke. Causes thousands of deaths.

Also wasps. I want to be able to sit out in an evening and not be bugged by them. They can also sting me and have zero consequences. Described as voracious predators. I understand they pollinate stuff but surely we have Bees for that (and other things) why do we need angry Wasps too?

And prawn cocktail crisps. Just No.

When we live in a bluetatorship I will give out free milk and cookies but take away your stupid sounding crisps!

31 July? That's a bit late isn't it?

I'd also ban this nonsense of not having proper seasons.

I don't mind a freezing winter with snow and the like but not in April!

Right I'm off for a macd, might have a fag on the way too.

Tartyflette · 03/04/2021 14:11

Jet skis. Unless used for lifesaving purposes.
I hate swimming when they're buzzing around in the water near me, generally driven by blokes with too much testosterone and too
little skill or consideration.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/04/2021 14:11

I’d ban the word ‘cookies’, unless you’re American, in which case it’s allowed. If you’re a Brit they’re biscuits.

And while I’m at it, I’d make it a hanging offence for anyone in the U.K. to leave out wretched ‘milk and cookies’ for Father Christmas/Santa. This is a gross American habit that should never have invaded these shores. In the U.K. he expects a tot of something to warm him up, and a mince pie.

(Apologies for mentioning the C word in April)

Mayorquimby2 · 03/04/2021 14:12

Using woke as an insult, extra ban for people who throw in quotation marks

Using "the menz" as a way of dismissing an argument

People slowing down to let you out or to let you cross when there's no traffic behind them, just go past at your normal speed ffs it will be a lot quicker than me having to wait for you to slow down so that I'm sure you're letting me out and not going to plough in to me

FionnulaTheCooler · 03/04/2021 14:13

Irresponsible dog owners. Sick of having to check the pavement for dog shit every time I walk somewhere.

Chemenger · 03/04/2021 14:13

Chewing gum. Makes a mess of the pavement, makes people look like they a animals chewing the cud and finding it stuck under seats is disgusting.

gamerchick · 03/04/2021 14:14

That's not all they do though. They eat the beasties that infest plants. They only get mischievous when the nest is self sufficient and the fruit trees push out fruit and then angry when their stomachs die so they can't eat anymore and crave sugar.

I mean imagine at the end of your life you're just cast out with no stomach. You'd probably want to sting things as well. Grin

Orchidflower1 · 03/04/2021 14:14

Yes to banning midges/ small biting insects!

Also with the dictatorship of orchid the terrible there would be........

No unopenable jars,
No smoking whilst pregnant or with children, under 16 in the house,
No dogs off leads,
No fruit in plastic bags,
No sauce bottles you can’t get the last bit out of,
No scampi fries- I’m with you on the gross savoury snacks @BlueEyesWhiteDragon

poppycat10 · 03/04/2021 14:15

OK lets say 30 June for wasps. It's usually sometime in July that they start being a nuisance Grin

And slowing down to let a car across into the side road I have already started to cross; driver turns in, sees me and acts like I am in the wrong Angry

SeaToSki · 03/04/2021 14:15

Vehicles beeping when they back up. You can hear it for miles. Maybe they could squirt a jet of water instead, that would get anyone in the way to move pretty sharpish

tableauvivant · 03/04/2021 14:19

@BlueEyesWhiteDragon

I once played a game on DSs Ipad about being a dictator. He was really good at it. I was terrible and often deposed by my own generals. Not relevant but there you go.
So far I'm thinking you'd make a fine dictator – it's a shame about the generals.

Littering and untrained dogs off lead, for me. Would sic vicious dogs on the litterers, and bury irresponsible dog owners up to the neck to gnawed upon by badgers.

Parkperson · 03/04/2021 14:19

I agree with a pp, people who use derogatory terms like 'the menz' and 'handmaidens' to shut down anyone who disagrees with them.

Etulosba · 03/04/2021 14:20

I'd ban people from banning things.

QuattroFormaggi · 03/04/2021 14:21

Complaining about the food someone else has cooked for you.

Refusing to disclose the names of your friends to your interested parent.

Leaving dirty plates on the worktop immediately above the dishwasher.

Punishment - move out!

The huge waspm in the bedroom yesterday obviously doesn't know about July!
tableauvivant · 03/04/2021 14:23

Also, tailgating motorists – their punishment to be tied to the bumper.

Okbussitout · 03/04/2021 14:23

Rich people

CloudFormations · 03/04/2021 14:23

Oh so much - I was made to be a tyrant!

  • Meat eating
  • Hunting
  • Raw celery
  • Use of the word ‘boobing’
  • Use of the phrase ‘cloth bumming’
  • Tights which roll down and form a sausage at the top of your crotch
  • #blessed
  • the phrase ‘our little family’
  • coronavirus
  • organza
  • littering
  • the five day working week
  • reflux
swashbucklecheer · 03/04/2021 14:24

Motorbikes that have to rev for at least 5min before they bloody move anywhere.

Can you tell what is ruining the peace and quiet round here Grin

Fembot123 · 03/04/2021 14:27

Adults who like Disney
Bad grammar
Biological washing powder
Tories
Littering

RoomOfRequirement · 03/04/2021 14:28

I’d ban the word ‘cookies’, unless you’re American, in which case it’s allowed. If you’re a Brit they’re biscuits.

But cookies are a specific type of biscuit!

fifteenmillionmerits · 03/04/2021 14:29

Fly-tipping. Makes me seethe.

danadas · 03/04/2021 14:30

5p pieces - too fiddly and get stuck in the corners of my purse.

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 03/04/2021 14:31

I mean that sounds like a really rubbish end to their lives so we would absolutely be doing them a kindness to permaban them and save them from their suffering and misery. Yes?

What I assume must be a Queen Wasp scared me witless this morning by crawling out of a piece of wood next to my fire. I assume she had hibernated in there and the warmth of the fire or the spring has awoken her. I was not appreciative to see her crawling across the wood though. I did relocate her far away at the end of the garden but it is this that has made me realise I am now going to be bugged by wasps later on. Sad
